Which doctors practice is best in Bishops Cleeve?

When I moved here if I had taken any notice of negative reviews I wouldn't have found out for myself how wonderful my GP surgery is. Because of them I finally found out last year what I was born with they sent me to a brilliant neurologist who did genetic blood tests and aged 64 finally had my diagnosis and treatment that helps.

As others have said no two people have the same opinion about the GP they use. My dad didn't like the GP my parents used but my mom did.

Might I suggest you use the one that seems the most techy.
Ie uses econsult, or something like that. so you can communicate with the drs that way. I find that very helpful.

Good point - that would be the Cleevelands Medical Centre.

They also do ultrasound imaging for gastro / hepatic - which, should it be needed, saves a trip to the local hospital (15-20 minutes' drive), the Cheltenham General, or (less local - about an hour's drive), the Gloucester Royal.

The medical centre has recently been refurbished so is according to my OH, pretty state of the art. And so far all his appointments have been on time.

I suggest you join the local Facebook group and ask this question there.

My OH has had appointments at a couple of surgeries in BC - I just now turned to him briefly and asked, "which doctors in Bishop's Cleeve?"

He gave me this look 😮.

English is not his native language - I had to explain the difference between "which" and "witch"

He's attended the medical centre - see link I gave above - and speaks highly of the services (Diabetes, Respiratory and Hepatic) and says parking is excellent.

Bishop's Cleeve is a 10 - 15 minute drive from me - I shop there regularly!

But I don't know anything about the local surgeries.

NextDoor is very useful to find all kinds of tradesmen in your area. It’s been a boon to us living in a new area. We moved from London suburbs to a place served by two GP practices. I rang both before moving, looked at what they both offered and chose the larger one as they operated like a mini hospital. I have to say they are excellent. Much much better than the one we had in outer London. All staff in uniforms, masks worn, facilities clean and modern. You see a GP and your prescription goes straight to the chemists for collection. So, shop around, ask new neighbours, do your research.

If you are on Facebook, there may be a local Community group.

But the chances of finding an NHS dentist as a new patient anywhere are minimal, I would have thought. Certainly there wouldn't be a choice.

I've just been online to look at the GP surgeries in Bishops Cleeve. It seems to me that the two main practices are very similar. Like most surgeries, the majority of patients seem satisfied with the care received. But there are always some who have received poor care, for whatever reason. If I were you, I would visit the surgeries, sit in the waiting room for a while to get the feel of the place. This is what I did after moving area. After spending several minutes in the first waiting room I moved across to the other. A better atmosphere altogether in that practice. I signed up with them. Later I discovered this is by far the better surgery. Another factor to consider is location. As these two practices are similar, perhaps the one closest to where you will be living? Hope this helps. Those with vacancies are not probably rubbish!

Some years' back at a patients' group meeting a GP explained why there is a sign saying 'New patients welcome' or words to that effect when the practice is already busy.

She explained that in a busy London practice people move in/out all the time, so if they don't replace those leaving the practice would become financially unviable.

It always makes me smile someone writes on fb can you recommended a hairdresser/ a doctor/ a dentist/ a school and if 20 people reply you get 20 different answers each one valid
Chose your own doctor if it doesn’t work out move to the other one nothing to stop you moving but you might go out the frying pan into the fire

What poster say here is meaningless. Myself and 2 friends have the same Dr. We all have a different opinion of him.
The same with the dentist we all go to.
