advice moving to hayling island

I've known Hayling all my life as a visitor and have several friends there. I think only you can work this out. Hayling has only one road on and off the Island so in summer in good weather the queues can be horrendous. Our friends time their activities on the mainland carefully!

There's good shopping on the mainland at Havant and Portsmouth but Hayling itself has some small shops, a Lidl and a tiny Sainsbury’s.

My friends are happy there - why not rent a self catering holiday home for a couple of weeks in the summer and see whether you like it?

I like to be able to gaze across the Solent to the Isle of Wight so Alverstoke and Lee on the Solent are both lovely with good GP services and plenty of choice when it comes to nearby retail outlets.

The Gosport ferry provides a handy short cut to Portsmouth which has a vibrant area for shopping/ restaurants and theatre going.

The traffic can be a bit heavy heading out towards the M27 but the south coast is like that everywhere now.

A close friend of mine is from Hayling Island, she speaks fondly of it and still has family there. Her mother lived and died there, she lived into her late nineties.

I had to look up Hayling Island and must say it looks gorgeous. I can imagine you'd be very happy there as you are used to be being near the sea. Look to the future with regard to public transport and amenities. It will be wonderful to be near your daughter. North Devon is beautiful but transport links are poor. Good luck - I don't think you will regret the move.
