I’ve heard of this and iirc it does end up with someone making off with the items and the money.

I'm pretty sure it is a scam. I had the same request when trying to sell something via Facebook Marketplace and just deleted it. I did google it and seem to remember that someone explain how it was a scam, but I can't remember the ins and outs of it now.

I agree, it is odd. Why not try it? If you end up with no money at least you will still have the stools.

Be careful as the problem may be at handover, stools snatched and the person runs off with the money.

I can't work out how it works.

We have put two polystyrene filled type foot stools on fb Marketplace for £25 for the pair.

We had a message from someone who said they would buy them but, as they were working, would send a delivery company to collect them. They would bring the money.

We had a similar message from a different person when selling something else of a slightly higher value.

It can't possibly be cost effective but what is the angle?
