Well I’m not going to be saved as my Android phone stayed silent during the alert.
How about you?

Modompodom Mon 24-Apr-23 16:15:03

My Samsung stayed silent. I am with Tesco.

No nothing for me so I'm doomed as well.Hubby got his.

growstuff Mon 24-Apr-23 15:51:39

A Government spokesperson said: “This is completely untrue – there are no connections with Infosys in the running of the Emergency Alerts system.”

Penelopebee Mon 24-Apr-23 15:48:58

Nothing for me, do or DD.
We are not the chosen

I was in my daughter's car, driving 4 teenagers to a frisbee match and all alarms went off simultaneously at 2.59. It produced much mirth amongst said teenagers!

Turned off notifications so it wouldn’t go off. Can’t abide the Governments BS.

I suppose the point is that it was a test and it failed. Back to the drawing board.

Tootsy Mon 24-Apr-23 14:11:57

I am on 3 and mine didn't go off. My phone is not a year old.
My sons' didnt go either. My neighbours didn't go but her husband's and childrens did.

Alison333 Mon 24-Apr-23 14:05:18

My went off (o2) at 3pm but it was more of a squawk than a siren!

Some providers, 3, Tesco, smarty and gift gaff failed apparently, hence it was a test.

A "test", but no way of reporting that we didn't get it? Not very much point then IMO, though the idea of a warning system overall is excellent. I know that my alerts were switched on but didn't get anything.
Apparently it was only for 4G or 5G phones, some say. But why? Messages are all bounced off the same towers regardless of the generation of your mobile so this just doesn't make sense. My phone receives 4G I think, but there is rarely a 4G signal locally.

orly Mon 24-Apr-23 13:55:10

I and my husband have identical Samsung phones on BT Mobile and mine went off at 14.59 whereas my husbands remained silent. The only difference is that my account is 5G and my husbands is 4G because he didn't upgrade his account when I upgraded mine.

growstuff Mon 24-Apr-23 13:53:59

Batworthy Are you still there? If what you're implying is true, it's explosive.

Norah Mon 24-Apr-23 13:51:43

I've no mobile, don't need one - however all our children/GC have phones and I understand many alerted yesterday.

There is no reception in our home, silence is indeed golden.

SueDoku Mon 24-Apr-23 13:49:16

My entire family (all on 3 except DD on Giff-Gaff) got no message - we're obviously expendable..! 😆

growstuff Mon 24-Apr-23 13:43:28

Batworthy

Apparently, a firm called Infosys is contracted to handle all these alerts.
Has anyone heard of them?

Is this a rhetorical question?

Anybody who has read about Mrs Sunak's wealth has heard of Infosys.

What exactly was the involvement in yesterday's alerts?

My Tesco one worked, it was a bit underwhelming and was a minute early but apart from that it all worked well.

Hattiehelga Mon 24-Apr-23 13:30:32

With Vodafone and not a peep. I had reminded all the family to stand by and they all got it !

Big anticlimax just a beep om our phones at 2.57 that's it ! Tablets didn't go off

polnan Mon 24-Apr-23 13:09:44

how does the "alert" signal save us? what to do if a genuine alert?

YesLets Mon 24-Apr-23 13:02:13

Neither my nor my husband’s phone alerted us. Switched on, notifications allowed, 2021 phones with software updates, Giffgaff, in Fife.

Ro60 Mon 24-Apr-23 12:59:32

My signal is poor - unless I stand on one leg etc etc. So I thought that was why I didn't get the alert.
I'm with Tesco mobile though.

weeducky Mon 24-Apr-23 12:54:19

Neither hubbies nor mine went off. I believe lots of people around here got no notification either....Wilds of Northumberland. Think they will have to re think, re jig and re test if they want everyone and the dog to be notified. It would be interesting to know what percentage of the population received the alarm but also what percentage of the population actually have a mobile phone. I still prefer my landline wink

Yearoff Mon 24-Apr-23 12:53:47

I’m with sky mobile. Mine went off at 2.59 in the shopping mall along with hundreds of others. Quite a racket!!

pen50 Mon 24-Apr-23 12:31:11

Giffgaff went off one minute early.
