Well I’m not going to be saved as my Android phone stayed silent during the alert.
How about you?

GrammarGrandma Mon 24-Apr-23 12:28:20

I'm on Vodafone and my iPhone played the alert at 2.59pm.

I was watching a National Theatre Live viewing yesterday during the time of the alarm. The theatre had asked us to turn off our phones and I did. I was interested to hear the sound of the alarm but was sure that someone would leave their phone on anyway. Sure enough, the alarm sounded on one phone at 3pm and then on another at 3.05. I heard an explanation of why the timing was variable on the radio, this morning. However, it is just as well that this test took place as it seems that it was not universally successful. Lessons, as they say, will have been learned.

I had a quiet alert and a text message that disappeared almost immediately.

But it was a trial, and I agree with the general idea.

However, the quiet alert may be that my provider only works well in certain areas.

Curious that one provider had a blanket "didn't work" at all.

Clearly a lot of work needing doing on it still.

DH and I both received the alert. I have a Samsung phone, he has a Nokia, we are both on O2. My DH also had a voice message, I had a text message.

fancythat, this is daft but I read on my local news website that three people had not received the alert.
As I hadn’t, (I’d just arrived back from work at my front doorstep, bang on three) * nothing* not a ping or vibration! I said to myself make that four people ..later watching the late news I realised they were referring to the “THREE” mobile provider🙄

glammanana Mon 24-Apr-23 09:27:41

Nothing sounded here on smart phone/ipad or tablet.

fancythat Mon 24-Apr-23 08:54:45

In a family group of about 12, including younger people. Different sorts of phones and systems.
Only 3 people got the message.
We are joking that the 3 will have to tell the other 9.

harrigran Mon 24-Apr-23 08:49:21

My tablet sounded the alert at 2.59 but my Sony phone didn't.

Freya5 Mon 24-Apr-23 08:46:55

In all day. Never heard a sound, had my number for years. Big flop. Perhaps they just chose random numbers to test.

NanaDana Mon 24-Apr-23 08:44:03

Both ours (G4) went off on the dot at 3 p.m., here on Tyneside. Also over-rode my low volume setting, and really blared out, so it worked well.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 24-Apr-23 08:33:53

Unusually, I was out at the time and I didn't hear it as my mobile was in my handbag which muffles the sound. I'd previously lowered the volume so it didn't startle me as I hate loud, sudden noises and opted out of future alarms. If that turns out to be a mistake it's too bad.

I'm with Vodafone and mine went off at 3pm yesterday and also at 5.20am this morning !!!!!! Anyone else get a 2nd alert?

NotAGran55 Sun 23-Apr-23 21:08:19

Vodafone here, mine went off at 1459 and DH’s at 1501 whilst out in the car together.

grumppa Sun 23-Apr-23 21:07:33

My Android on O2 went off at 1459. DW's Apple on Vodafone remained silent.

Nightsky2 Sun 23-Apr-23 21:04:10

Our DS and DGD came to collect their dog which had spent the weekend with us. We were sitting chatting when my phone went off which surprised us as we had completely forgotten about the alert. DSs phone and DHs phones didn’t go off. The dog didn’t notice anything.

Deedaa Sun 23-Apr-23 21:01:21

I got mine at 3.10. DS didn't get anything but he is with 3.

annodomini Sun 23-Apr-23 20:57:53

I didn't hear a thing, but later heard that many people on the 3 system didn't and since I am on 3, I assume that was the reason.

Daisymae Sun 23-Apr-23 20:45:02

My DH had the alert and I didn't. Obviously this is a case of discrimination as the powers that be consider his life more important than mine 😉

Redhead56 Sun 23-Apr-23 20:31:48

I saw the alert on my phone Motorola because I looked at it but didn't have any sound.

LOUISA1523 Sun 23-Apr-23 20:08:25

I'm O2.... Samsung...mine went off at 1458.... it wasn't very loud

loopyloo Sun 23-Apr-23 17:56:06

Not a peep! Really disappointed.
