Squint, double vision and cataract surgery

Anyone with a squint which gives double vision and has had cataract surgery? I have a squint + double vision and about to have first cataract sorted (there will be a second one in the future on my better eye). I am struggling to work out how you manage after surgery and before you can get new glasses. The replacement lens will hopefully get rid of the shortsightedness but not the squint & double vision of course. I need my glasses on to walk across a room so suspect so concerned. No real solutions given apart from patching the eye that has not been operated on might help. Anyone with any other ideas?

ps...I should have added that my current glasses have a lot of prism in them to control the double vision.

Please contact the optician with your question

I did that but got nowhere. The opticians didn't seem to be prepared to make up 'just prism' glasses. The surgery venue came up with the just prism suggestion or patching over the better eye. I just wondered if anyone had been through this and if they had any other suggestions.

I have a squint with the subsequent double vision. I had a cataract removed in March. It makes absolutely no difference to the squint, although magical for focus, etc.
Six weeks for the new lens to settle, then new glasses.

As I also have one long sighted and one short sighted eye, I elected to keep the corrections the same, to the surgeon’s surprise.

GrandMattie, thank you, it's good to know someone else with the sight challenges has gone through this. How did you cope with the squint/double vision during the recovery period? I am trying to work out how people cope in the transitional period between surgery and the ability to get new glasses. My double vision is a bit extreme. Any ideas/info would be gratefully appreciated smile
