I find their adverts annoying but have been surprised by some reviewers actually finding stuff they have ordered from temu to be of reasonable quality.

I'm still not going to use it myself, though. Not surprised to see that the low prices are due to exploitation of workers.

Off piste to original post, but can you recommend any specific ad blockers please Oopsadaisy1 or M0nica? Thank you in advance.

Cheap is as cheap says. Rubbish from what I hear.

M0nica Fri 18-Aug-23 17:47:15

Oh, the joys of an Ad blocker, the first thing I put on every device.

I haven't even heard of TEMU and all my online traffic is advert free. I also paid extra to have a Kindle without adverts.

Well, there’s a surprise!
I have always been amazed by posters on GN who tell us how wonderful companies like SHEIN and TEMU are. Their pics are very tempting but when a price seems too good to be true - it generally is.

I have thought from the first time I saw the unbelievable prices on a Temu advert that they were aiming for a rapid market expansion and they must be backed by some organisation with bottomless pockets. The article in the link says "It is backed by Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo . . ." Don't be taken in by the cheap prices - the aim is to gain a commercial monopoly in world markets in as many fields as they can, and by any methods they can find.

Try an Ad Blocker?

My iPhones have never done that Sasta?

Agh! What an I doing wrong? When I scroll right, to open the days’ headlines I’m bombarded with Apple News I can’t read unless I subscribe. I’ve gone into notifications and turned off all Apple notifications but still it’s always there. 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’ll see if my granddaughter (8) can get rid!

I agree Germanshepherdsmum. Me too 62Granny, the blatant and unwanted adverts from all directions are so annoying. I particularly dislike that Apple News is foisted on you if you use an iPhone, but not so you can read it, only to make you subscribe to read it. I know it’s available, I do not need reminding every single time I use my iphone.

I hate the way their adverts bombard you on my kindle and I recently had a new phone and every time I downloaded my apps from the app store I had to wait while one of their very irritating adverts went through its spiel .😡😠

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 18-Aug-23 14:06:09

I wouldn’t touch it either. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who don’t ask themselves why something is so cheap.

Sasta Fri 18-Aug-23 13:57:19

Temu, the most downloaded and used app in the US is being investigated. I wouldn’t touch it with the proverbial barge pole and hope it doesn’t get the success in the UK it seems to have garnered in the US. These unrealistic prices come at a very high cost. www.bbc.com/news/business-65990529.amp
