As it's a second marriage for both of us, we used to joke about how we'd be lucky to make it to a significant anniversary.
Well, somewhat against the odds, we've survived to celebrate our Silver Wedding next April.
The problem is that we can't think what to do on the actual day.
We have booked a special holiday abroad but not until June for the sake of the weather and that, plus another holiday later in the year, is taking a large chunk of our finances.
We can't have a party because step children don't talk to each other or my kids (don't ask!).
DH had his 80th birthday this summer so I used up most of my ideas then - we had celebratory meals with his two children (separately) and an afternoon tea with mine. Then we spent his actual birthday at a Warner hotel, followed by a trip to a London theatre to see Moulin Rouge (which has some special significance for us).
DH is happy to drive distances but has some mobility problems, so things that involve a lot of walking are not possible.
Any ideas would be very gratefully received - maybe a country hotel with a special restaurant?
We're in East Anglia, but not region specific.
Volunteering shouldn't be this hard, surely?
