Signing my great nephews card

I just wrote my great nephews first Christmas card. It took enough to get my head around what I was to him. Once I'd established I was his great aunty I wrote his card. But I put from your great aunty Rachel and your Great uncle Rob. I'm a perfectionist and really don't know why I put "your" on it. I should have just put from great aunty Rachel etc. I think I have abit of OCD about things like this sad

I doubt he'll notice a redundant word, welshslider. If it is redundant. Think of the (ahem) diversity of old style letter endings 🙂

You’re reading too much into it, welshslider. Bear in mind that he can’t read yet! We over analyse things. 😊

Thank you all. I was thinking more of the people around him of my age smile I am overthinking it. It makes it unique I guess smile

‘Your great aunt’ sounds fine and what I d have probably put

V3ra Mon 27-Nov-23 20:33:55

That sounds perfect 😊

We have several great nieces and nephews on both sides.
Somehow "great aunt" and "great uncle" sound much more ancient than grandma or granny and grandad, so we just have a laugh about it with those relatives 😁

I would have put "your" too. grin

My grandchildren call my sister by her first name, as do my children. Same for my sister-in-law. When they're old enough (roundabout now for the children, now they're 40!) I have explained the arious relationships.

Sorry if this sounds sexist, but boys are generally not interested in family relationships - up until now, mine have just about managed to get their heads around uncles and cousins. Their wives, on the other hand, remember all our obscure relatives, their birthdays and illnesses, pets and interconnections. I sometimes feel I'm talking to a brick wall when I tell DH about any of my cousin', let alone the next gener.

So, IF I had any great niblings, I would sign with my first name. The "your" in the OP's case is fine, as it distinguishes great-auntie Jane from "Auntie Jane. who is great"!

I’m a great auntie to ten children. I always just put love from auntie Maddy.

Well and from uncle M as well of course.

we always just used our christian names, but we all knew each other quite well

I just use my first name too pascal - but if I wanted to use the "title" as in the case above, I'd probably have used "your" too.

Easier to just be me though, agreed.

I just put with love from Aunty Call and Uncle P, if I ever send one, I've lost count of them all!

They can read, at least two are teachers, so that shows how ancient I am.
And - I have great-great nephews and great-great nieces too 😲
