My daughter was a teenage Mum and is about to be a gran. She now has a demanding career and a good partner. I am retired, live near the expectant couple and have more financial resources. I think I have upset my daughter as she is worried I will be closer to the baby than her! How do I avoid overstepping while still offering to help? The young couple welcome the assistance.

I’m a Grt Gran to 7 and I make it known I’m able to help but unless specifically asked I defer to my daughters who are now both grans. They work full time but still manage to help out with the babies and children.
I’ve had my time being Gran to my GC now it’s their turn. Offer your help and then wait to be asked is my advice. My GDs bring their babies to visit me or I go to them when asked it works for everyone in my family.
