Fridge magnets

I have these from all over the world, but I really don’t want to put them back on my new appliance. I do like them for the memories they bring, and my younger DGC like to look, rearrange and ask about them.
Any suggestions for keeping them? (DH suggested the bin).

I have a plain white metal board on a kitchen wall for all my memory magnets. Also use it for my magnetic backed shopping pad, box for holding pens and pencils.

Thanks for all the ideas. I’ve never heard of magnetic paint, but I do have a wall that I could arrange them on. If we painted it has just suggested that he makes a recessed frame with a glass front-abut like the mini room settings I have.

Fridge magnets and souvenir T shirts are my holiday memories. My favourite magnet is " Grandchildren spoiled while you wait." although it is now GGC

I don't really have anywhere to put magnets as my appliances are integrated, but the outside of my metal rubbish bin would work.

We have loads of colourful fish magnets, acquired by dh when he was based in Indonesia for a while.
Older Gdcs used to love rearranging them, and the youngest (4) still does.

Of the others, this is my favourite, though!

I love my fridge magnets.blush

Ditto. My son lives in Japan, and when we visited in 2001 his brother was after one to bring home - as Japanese is not an easy language he asked his brother (who is fluent) what the Japanese for Fridge magnet was - It’s Fridge Magneto !!

That's a good idea to use magnetic paint for fridge magnets

You can buy magnetic boards and put them all on there, then you can take the board out or away whenever you need to.

Mallin, I have one of those magnets.

I’ve only got one, it came from a teenage magazine of my daughters about 20 years ago, and it’s David Beckham’s head with some separate speech bubbles you can write on. It’s on the boiler in the utility room and has seen plenty of cryptic messages in its time.

Paint a board with magnetic paint and put it up somewhere with your fridge magnet collection.

I used to make fridge magnets. Selling them at a now defunct Sunday market held at Blackbush, as well as other venues. One of my best sellers was a plain little square, with “Boring Women have tidy Kitchens “ engraved on it. An idea I pinched from a tile maker who designed tiles for designer kitchens.

I have about 300 magnets covering fridge/freezer, frame of cooker and magnetic boards. Thank you Parsley3 for mentioning magnetic paint. I hadn’t heard of that and I shall try that as I am really out of space. I do love my magnets, collected over some thirty years from all parts of the world. Some have really sentimental value such as the Australian ones collected on visits to my, now deceased, brother.

I'm another who loves our fridge magnets - I love the reminder of all the places we've visited and brought them back as souvenirs.

Sarahleigh Thu 08-Feb-24 11:57:20

*cat ones on the front.

Babamaman Thu 08-Feb-24 11:57:19

My daughter bought a stainless steel board and put it on the wall and then stick all the beautiful (& even the tacky) ones on the board!
Everyone will love it

Spuddy Thu 08-Feb-24 11:56:15

We've got a little lightweight wooden one on our fridge door that says: A spoiled rotten Cat lives here with 4 little paw prints!

Sarahleigh Thu 08-Feb-24 11:54:57

I love fridge magnets - they are all over the fridge/freezer. Cat ones on the one, places I have been and other peoples places (which I don’t really want) on one side and the other has ones that are holding notes. My daughter recently gave me all hers because she doesn’t want them in her new kitchen! My grandchildren wanted them kept hence the magnets moved to nannies.

I love my fridge magnets and I would miss them. Many happy memories of where we have visited. Now my grown up grandchildren buy one for me when they travel

Me too. I'd not want to lose mine. I'd just put themmon new fridge freezer.

Fairycakes Thu 08-Feb-24 11:42:05

I have had these two fridge magnets on my fridge for many years and when my grandchildren were very small, they were all attracted to the sun face.

Nannan2 Thu 08-Feb-24 11:40:55

*put back😃

Nannan2 Thu 08-Feb-24 11:40:09

I just got new fridge freezer and after cleaning/filling it next job was to back my fridge magnets & some postcards and magnetic pics of GC.

MamaB247 Thu 08-Feb-24 11:34:15

Sheet of metal in a photo frame or a metal notice board.

Minibookworm Thu 08-Feb-24 11:16:06

Ours are now displayed on magnetic white boards after we got a new kitchen with an integrated fridge/freezer. They do provide us with memories of the places we have visited around the world - we tend to only buy ones when we go abroad.
