You could curate a day out, with breakfast at a coffee shop, visit a NT or similar destination, rounded off with dinner. Not necessarily on the actual birthday.

Eurostar tickets for a Europen destination

I’m sorry but my failsafe is always a book token. Sneered at by many but in my world nothing beats a good book.

Since he is active and fit:

A lovely lunch out ..

A marvelous brunch out ..

A beautiful scarf as it is still cold ..

A book on a subject he enjoys ..

Theatre or Opera or Concert tickets or Sports event ..

All depends on budget of course. Needless to say.

He was a bit older, but I bought my husband cable tow wakeboarding sessions for his 73rd, and he says he enjoyed it enormously www.letsgoout.co.uk/blog/cable-wakeboarding-in-the-uk/

A nice bottle of whisky? Unless all alcohol is off the list.

What are his hobbies?

A weekend away? A nice meal somewhere special? Theatre tickets?
It depends on your budget and relationship to the man really.

I am looking for inspiration from other Grans for suggestions for a man's 70th birthday present.
I don't particularly want to buy nice wine or a food hamper, as I have done that previously. Nothing stands out on the John Lewis or M&S gift pages. He is not sporty though is fit and active.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
