No, she’s not a crafty person but the suggestion was a good one.
I think perhaps a little glass (?) type ornament that she could hang from a tree outside. Not sure if that could be baby related and it wouldn’t be personalized, of course.
She’s such a thoughtful person, There must be some keepsake that would fit the bill!

I might be reading this wrong but it sounds to me that she doesn't like "stuff". Perhaps a luncheon out to celebrate her new title or just a pretty card and a bouquet of flowers to celebrate the moment?

I like a rose, but my idea for a grandchild was a small fruit tree that would grow like her grandchild
'I planted that tree the day you were born' and they could eat the apple or plum together.

Friends of ours just became GPs and we sent a card and a bottle of prosecco. Maybe send a bouquet?

Can’t edit - why not give her a nice children’s book for when the GC visits?

There are some good suggestions which I will explore.
She hasn’t got a garden and ( like me) is not keen on cut flowers.
I will treat her to a meal - good suggestion - but it’s the keepsake I’m after.
Doesn’t have to be expensive.

After being blessed with twins my friends put a little box together for me with Neurofen, calming herbal teas, a big block of chocolate and some vitamins

How about a small item of jewellery with the baby’s birthstone in it?

Or a bracelet similar to this with the baby’s initial.

I don’t like ‘stuff’ either and wouldn’t like to feel obliged displaying an item given to me.
I like the book idea from Iamarocker perhaps a set of Winnie the Pooh, Beatrix Potter or similar.

I also think a book. But not pooh or Potter unless a special edition - would go for a really lovely modern classic.
Something they can look forward to reading with the little one.

How about ‘The Good Granny Guide (Or how to be a modern grandmother)’ by Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall (Hugh’s mum). ?

I was given this when my GS was born, 19 years ago, so assume it has been updated as the years have passed.

It was informative, humorous and tried to see being a granny from all sides, granny’s, baby’s and new parents.

I bought these for a new grandmother, the book is funnny.

A beautiful book of blank pages to use as a journal. She might like to fill it with memories of things that happen as they grow up /her own thoughts / pictures of her little one. Memories from her own child's childhood. It could always be given as a gift then on their 18th birthday maybe. I really wish I'd done this with my grandkids.

Last week there was a local craft market and I found a lady who makes bespoke gifts.
She had made some wonderful glass hanging baubles, beautifully hand decorated on one side. She is going to write the baby’s name, birth date and Nan.. on the other.
