I know I should go to the cobbler for this, but has anyone ever had success sticking the sole and shoe back together themselves? If so what did you use. The sandal in question has come apart at the toe. Thanks.

A local cobbler stuck mine for free.

I have never had much success with trying to repair shoes. Have you looked online to see if a certain sort of adhesive is recommended for this? It will have to be an industrial strength, heavy duty sort for a lasting repair.

I used this glue, bought on Ebay, on a Skechers work shoe, used for gardening. I tried it just in case it worked, and it has lasted about a year so far. I used a bulldog clip to hold it until dry.

I did once hot glue a bit of sole back on to a favourite pair of shoes that were on their last legs. It lasted for about a month then came apart again, but that was enough to see me through the Summer. They were so old that the insides were beginning to wear a lot so they went in the bin at the end of the Summer.

Depends on that the shoes are made of though, whether they are leather or plastic pr something else.

Ditto.

Also, a few years ago I tried having a new sole put on a favourite pair of sandals, by a cobbler. Cost me about £20. Dont think it was really worth doing so. For me, anyway.
