Am I overthinking it but my 13 year old grandson is becoming quite distant, he's always been so loving but seems to have suddenly fell down the hormone hole! Do I do anything or just wait till he comes through, his mum, my daughter was dreadful at his age, making me think that there should be a cull at 13!! She came through really well despite our fights, lol.

Does anyone remember Kevin and Perry played by Harry Enfield and Kathy Burke?

Something very odd seems to happens at the age of 13 but most seem to grow out of it, eventually. Hang on in there!!

Jayr - they’re all the same at that age - but I will say this, my youngest son and oldest 2 GC have very sweet temperaments. The other 4 GC are too young - we’ll have to wait and see 😂

Jayr. I think my 13 year old grandson is your grandson’s twin. My son told me tonight that his son is distancing himself from the family and his younger brother. Not getting into trouble or anything but totally absorbed by his football and meeting his friends. I hope I’m still alive when he emerges the other end.

Good luck.

Yes, you are overthinking it.

Do nothing

If someone was able to work out what to do, I expect they'd be very rich by now.

Do nothing, support your daughter who must be getting an idea why she drove you nuts when she was a teen. He will come round but needs some space to be a typical teenager, it's not his fault, or his parent's, and nothing anyone can do can change things. Just be loving and patient and there if he needs you.
I wouldn't want to go back to my teenage years for a gold clock, horrible uncertain time full of out of control hormones and emotions.

That's true MissA been through the terrible teens several times, invariably they come out of the other end as nice human beings.

It's awful isn't it.
But when my DS asked me earnestly if he had ever been like his DS, I just gawped at him grin

I reassured him ofcourse. DGS is 17 now and definitely beginning to mature 🤣

i used to say to my daughter, 'one of us may live to reach your 18th birthday, I am just not sure which of us.'

She is in her 50s now, and we had such a lovely weekend together this weekend.

I remember years ago a teacher at my children's high school saying you could always tell when boys reached 13 as the smell of Lynx was over powering . 😂
