Sorry. operator, passers by giving him CPR. I won't go on as I put it on another thread. A horrible day. Poor man.

Difficult times for some. November was going well until, as mentioned on another thread, me and DH found a man dead on the pavement opposite our house.

Oh my word, I am so sorry , how awful for not just the poor man but for you & your DH 😘

Hope you are on the mend NanaTuesday (out of interest, do you job share with 6 other Grans? gringrin )

In answer to your question though, no, I was talking about the last few years of DH’s life. We /he persevered though and although our plans often had to be cancelled or curtailed, we still tried to make the most of the time he had left

Oh I’m sorry to here you had illness strike over your plans also , but hope you & your DH are ok 👌
As for us , Yes , apart from this videos hanging around for me at least I have woken for the last two days with a sore throat & my cough hasn’t really gone away . I may attempt to make a GP appt today .

Oh you poor peeps- I know only too well how our best laid plans frequently went "aglae" -it was plans B or C sometimes even D. We had to come back from holiday more than once - pausing only en route to the Royal Free for pj's and slippers . Another time instead of driving to Birmingham for lunch with eldest D and SIL when they were going to tell us she was expecting their first baby, I was watching the ambulance disappear down the drive, and I don't know how often we had to miss theatre trips. But such was life and at least I still had DH . We still made plans but usually had a back up, and family and friends were used to short notice cancellations.
I hope 2025 brings you all improved health.

It’s bad luck when plans we look forward to have to be cancelled isn’t it.Perhaps do more spontaneous things when health and finances allow.

Me, too. Holiday spoiled when DH went down with a severe chest infection - which he passed on to me. His chest infection affected his heart problems. The result, 3 home medical visits, 7 day trips to local community hospital, one to A&E and finally the Cardiac centre. Most of the time he had to have hospital transport because I was too ill to drive.

Ironically we had a spa break booked for early last week - that had to be cancelled and follow up medical appointments for DH, which I need to attend with him mean that I am having to reorganise my life again, just as I was feeling well and getting back to normal.

Still he is still with me and making a rapid recovery, which is more than I expected at one point. he has finally agreed a small buggy would be helpful, and I am well again!

Ian so sorry to read this , how worrying for you both . I am glad that your ash is on the mend ❤️‍🩹 though .
I accept that plans can c& do change . Though having been through this November 23 I certainly did not expect the same cycle . My DH had a relapse due to a 5am start , hours of standing & then marching at the Centopath.
But , as health issues go we are fit & healthy this virus 🦠 apart . Thankfully

I supose maybe focus on health and safety but try to savour good times?

Jeanathome
Definitely agree as long as I can meet the good times on the agenda 😂

I think next year I will make myself a reminder NOT to make any plans .
Last year November I suffered from a recurring virus & it is now a groundhog month for me & DH .
It started off with having to miss a Family Funeral Service , due to my having a dental issue that required antibiotics at the end of October. By beginning of November those antibiotics had an adverse effect on me - meaning we didn’t attend , lost our hotel booking , plus dog kennel fees . Not only but also we had sold Theatre tickets 🎫 at a loss of £30 as it was the same day as Service !
All of that including dental costs have added up to ££££’s .
Then there is the getting together with family & friends that also got cancelled ( no money lost ) due to DH having a virus & of course it passed to me , why would
I not want to have it as well lol
Yesterday , a sibling had invited us for a birthday celebration at his home some 200 miles away , another one missed .
This coming week a long planned stay in the big smoke with another sibling seems to be on that list - Christmas markets & laughs a plenty . I have until
Monday to overcome my lengthy virus .
Then a ticketed long awaited event at our local Cathedral on 29th followed by not 1 but 2 different family gatherings on 30th . One a pre Christmas get together with 5 generations of my DH family . The other an old fashioned children’s party for 14 & 11 year old GD’s plus 2year old GGD . Both of these are in different counties & as we didn’t want to miss out on either or have the pre Christmas date changed we decided to do both . Well that’s the plan🤪
And another Theatre trip on 4th . I think to get to the events & family gatherings I need to give the Christmas markets ( a 2 hour drive or hours train ride ) a big swerve .
It’s all been on the Calendar months so we’ve always known that the end November was going to be mega busy so buckle up
If we make the rest of these trips we’d travel from Cambridgeshire to London( East) Essex, Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire nothing is exactly around the corner 😘
So , next year November , I’ll save my ££’s & hedge my bets & not make any plans .
Anyone else caught in this trap ?
