I bought a deck brush, kind of triangular shaped on a long pole. Good for cleaning base boards as well as the grouting, as can no longer get down on my knees.
Ha! Ha! Haaaaaaaaa! An OBE in exchange for the State Pension?
Fortunately our kitchen is tiny. We made the mistake of putting down cream porcelain floor tiles thinking it would make the space look larger which it does. But they just look dirty all the time. Today I have been down on my hands and knees trying to clean them but they still don't look good close up. Two questions: does anyone know of a really good way to clean them? Alternatively is there something I can put over them? I could use a rug but it would need to be washable and cut to shape? Despairing and wish I'd bought the black/grey/white patterned ones. Too late now. No wonder these were on special offer!

What about clickclack flooring? I think if we redid ours I would just go over the top as it’s all level.
Kardean is nice too but that can be expensive & hard work to clean if it has a grain.

So did we!! Worst decision ever when it comes to the house. They always look filthy (which of course they are). I’m wondering whether we could cover them with vinyl. Alternatively I may look for a rug.
You can get light coloured vinyl flooring that is very forgiving. I’d take a pic of mine but we’re in a holiday let on the Northumberland coast!
We had very dark ceramic tiles in the bathroom which showed every splash and drip. Our local carpet/flooring shop came and skimmed the grouted joints then laid vinyl over the top which is very easy to clean.
Sorry for typos cant find my glasses for the momen.t
But relevant still. Maybe with the heat people are tempted by cool cream tiles.
We have a creamy shadowy vinyl in the bathroom. Nice but the shading looks as though the vinyl is not completely flat. Which it is. Bothers Dh no end and he cant get down on the floor to testt whether it is flat and doesnt believe me. I need to fi d the spirit level to demonstrate.
Memo to me will be tp always go and see stuff actually in the shop on the floor if poss and not choose from samples

We went with cream lappato tiles which come up really nice. My bug bare is the grout it’s vanilla & really hard to keep clean.
I use an oxo long handled brush & pan, then once a week I go over with hoover. Then mop once a week, with lappato cleaner & hot water.
I do steam it now & again. Not perfect.
I think next time would go for a wood look tile.
Old thread 🤦♀️

Cream porcelain tiles can be beautiful, but they definitely show every bit of dirt, especially in kitchens where there’s grease, spills, and constant foot traffic.
One thing I’d check first is whether there’s actually a layer of residue sitting on the tiles. Sometimes using too much cleaner can leave a film that attracts more dirt and makes the floor look dull. A deep clean with a suitable tile cleaner and a microfiber mop can make a big difference.
For the grout lines, a soft brush and a proper grout cleaner usually work better than trying to scrub the whole floor on your hands and knees. A steam mop can also help with some types of porcelain tile, but I’d check the manufacturer’s recommendations first.
For everyday maintenance, I’ve found that regular vacuuming or dry mopping first, then damp mopping with the right amount of cleaner, keeps light tiles looking much better.
If you’re still unhappy with the look, a washable kitchen runner or custom-cut washable mat could be a good option, especially around the sink and cooking areas where most of the mess happens.
Light floors are a bit more work, but once you get the right cleaning routine, they can still look great—they just need a little more regular care.

I’m just about to replace mine with LVT wood effect flooring, for precisely this reason!
It reminds me if the time that a mistake was made and I had vast areas of almost cream carpet to keep clean .
I was assured that the carpet was stain proof and it certainly wasn't.
It was a disaster !
Can you superclean the tiles and put some sort of sealant over them ?
I don't know if it's possible .
Otherwise I'd cover them with vinyl or kitchen carpet .

Buy a steam floor cleaner and use it daily. My tiles are cream and always look clean, even when I had dogs.
Yes so do mine.

The point is, some can be done morning, noon and night and still look grubby.
Who wants those??
Daily? 😯

It's very odd about light tiles looking grubby, get darker ones, as with cars it works the other way round, a black or navy blue car seems to show every speck of dirt, white or off-white are more forgiving?!
Why do you think I’ve got brown grout❓
I have tried a steam cleaner on grey grout we inherited in a bathroom with a fair degree of success
If it works I believe you can get grout sealing job but could the grout be scraped out and regrouped in darker colour say brown

I've got cream floor tiles ... I doubt they are perfectly clean. That get a bit of a clean once a week ... in between I live my life and just let it be.
Me too. They were in when I bought the house. I don’t stress, Mop weekly and just spot wipe occasionally if I spill something.
My friends haven’t deserted me (yet) because of sloppy house cleaning.
Try a rubber broom and ordinary floor cleaner or Cif. If you use Cif you will need to rinse. I used to get down on my hands and knees to scrub but only once a year. Also a friend uses one of those motorised scrubbing brush.
Buy a cream coloured grouting pen.
Like a big felt tip, with coloured grout (or maybe paint?)
Then just colour in your grouting.
It's not the tiles I have a problem with because they are mottled but it's the cream grout that is impossible to clean. Any ideas anyone?
Could you use some of those plexi floorcoverings they sell at Ikea's? They're ment to go under a deskchair (with wheels) to protect a wooden floor. But they're really sturdy, see-through ánd clean easily.

Not wishing to brag but I went into tile shop and requested tiles that would not show the muck or paw prints The guy said not been asked that before
Made a suggestion. Bingo they are fantastic In porch hall kitchen and boot room
Living in country with two spaniels and numerous pair of wellies they never seem to show the muck a quick brush in the porch does the job
The colour ranges from dark cream to light brown after about eight years still look good
I have a large area of virtually white Travertine marble flooring which is prone to chipping and damages.
When I had a spine operation I bought a (pretty expensive) Karcher floor mop which cleans the tiles and also sucks the water off so it is almost immediately dry.
When clean I sporadically apply HG High Shine polish, a couple of coats of which make the surface dirt resistant. Every few years or so I Brillo the white grouting in the cooking area and reapply the HG High Shine.
It seems to work very well but then I don’t have pets.
