Fridge freezer settings

The temperature in my fridge (it’s a fridge freezer) was 10 degrees. And the milk was turning sour!
A thread on Reddit suggested that I should defrost the freezer section. It’s an integrated fridge freezer and it must usually automatically defrost. I have no idea what make it is, can’t find any logos! I switched it off for 48 hours in the hope that might sort the defrosting process.
I’ve switched it back on today. My problem is that I don’t know which number on the dial is the coldest!
The dial is marked 0-7. 0 is switched off. So I’m thinking that 7 must be the coldest. Can any gransnetters help!

Do you have the handbook?
Or can you find one online?

I doubt we can help without more detail.

On ours 0 is the coldest and it’s set to 4, I think 5 is the max advised. Good luck

My fridge is set at 6 degrees and my freezer -21. Which is probably not a lot of help.
I assume you have tried to Google instructions?

I would defrost both, turn it to its coldest setting but also invest in a fridge thermometer to check the actual temperature.

Ours is the other way round!
3 is about the right setting for our fridge but it's always been temperamental.

The engineer recommended -18C for our freezer

I just had a similar problem with my fridge. I have come to the conclusion that the higher the number the colder the temperature. Mine is numbered 2 , 3, 4, 6 and 8. I have it on 6 at the moment.

I too think the higher the number, the colder the settings

Georgesgran Sun 29-Dec-24 11:14:39

According to Google 7 would be the coldest.

We've just ordered an integrated fridge, hope they don't have more problems than the traditional type 🤔

Thank you Georgesgran!
I think I’ll go with that!
And thank you for all the positive responses.

The recommended setting for my fridge is 5 and freezer 21.

No probs Molleonan. If Google’s wrong, then maybe revert to trial and error. X

Get a freezer thermometer, around £5 on ebay, then you will be able to make sure the freezer temperature is accurate.

My L.A gives out free fridge thermometers art Christmas.

I have thermometers in both the fridge and freezer section. The “4” setting on my 34 year old Zanussi keeps the fridge at 5° and the freezer at -18°.

Marydoll

The recommended setting for my fridge is 5 and freezer 21.

My mistake. -18° for freezer.
