Best lightweight equipment such as buggies

I'd have a look online and at the reviews.

There is so much more choice now, not all expensive, from when our own DC were babies and only the McLaren buggy was available (a brilliant innovation!).

A waterproof hood and apron and a snuggly muff or one with divided legs would be essential this weather too.

To say I'm nervous is an understatement
I think we all were, it's been so long but relax and enjoy yourselves.

Practice folding and unfolding.
That's my advice. DH and I found it impossible to fold the one we were using and we nearly had to squeeze it into the car upright. Luckily a man at the carpark watched our struggles and helped. 😮

I've had several awkward moments trying to remember how to set up or collapse our two different buggies. In the end I asked DiL to talk me through it and I took a video of her demonstration on my mobile so I wouldn't get caught out again.

You might also want to post on Mumsnet, since there are mums on there purchasing new baby items.

A baby backpack works for some people but obviously not for those of us with back problems. Cheaper than a buggy.

I would never have used a back pack to carry my children about , nor a sling contraction on my front - and I was young then !! With respect at the age of 71 I strongly advise you to to transport your GC in a buggy - not on your own body!
Unable to advise but the suggestion of posting on Mumsnet is a sound idea. Good luck and take care of your back!

If you're in London, look for tube stations with disabled access or step free stations. I used to take the buggy to Stratford and all over the city. Far easier, cheaper and more environmentally friendly than using the car, and people will always help you.

You are about to start a most marvellous adventure watching your GD grow and develop. I look back with great fondness to the years spent looking after my pre-school age grandchildren. It was a privilege to share those years when they are learning so much. Enjoy every moment because it flies by.
