Backpack style handbag suggestions

Please can anyone suggest where I can find a backpack style handbag that doesn’t look like a walking rucksack or something a Swedish schoolchild would carry (which is what I’m currently using and it’s old, scruffy and tbh not age-appropriate!)

I have a MiaTui one. Looks good and is also very useful, with plenty of handy pockets and different features.

I bought a MiaTui bag and found it to look cheap and tacky and very heavy BEFORE anything was put in it.

Won't be buying from then again and do not recommend either.

Oooh, well that's me told then! I'll just go off and hide in the corner with my cheap and tacky - oh, and heavy - bag then! gringringrin

You could try one with a strap that crosses over one shoulder and under the other arm. The bag hangs at the front (at chest level) so you have everything within easy reach (and it's secure from pickpocket interference, too).

The MiaTui ones have lockable pockets, which would make it very hard for pickpockets.

Loads on the market and in the shops...All differing styles. Look on Amazon as well. I have a few different kinds

Another vote for Mia Tui. A good range of styles and colours. I too have the one that converts to an across body bag. They often come with additional small bags at no extra cost.

The House of Bruar (In Scotland) does lovely leather ones although they are not cheap, they are a fraction of £600.

I also second TK Maxx

My daughter has several colours/styles from Fiorelli

I wouldn't keep valuables in a rucksack on my back, far too vulnerable and asking to be robbed, I've seen it happen twice and when we were in Madrid we were stopped by a policeman who told us to wear our rucksack on the front, didn't like to tell him it only contained our waterproofs but it shows they are a problem, also told this in Barcelona

Leather is often heavier than other material so I usually avoid them as I prefer something lighter,

The reason I suggested a Kipling backpack is for that reason. Is very light and washable.
I had a leather backpack before and was heavy before I put anything in it.
Kipling do very light handbags and backpacks. Used to live Radley but am firmly in the Kipling camp now.

I have the Mia Tui HARPER which can be a back pack and also across body bag, I love it! such clever interior design too, pockets for things like insulated bottle holder, and an elastic to attach your keys. I love this company! miatui.com/collections/backpacks/products/harper?variant=41696352501827

Lots of different backpacks in TKMaxx many at reasonable prices.

I have lovely Mia tui backpack style. However the soft keathelook plastic (after several years) has started to disintegrate. If I had the cash I'd buy real leather next time

Try Nordace. I love mine!

Osprey have a backpack with the zip to the main pocket hidden when it’s on your back so very safe to use.

Sarah65 Thu 16-Jan-25 13:15:42

I have two John Lewis Anyday ones, they come in various sizes, are roomy, secure with a zip & a flap, are comfortable & waterproof

Love my Orla Kiely backpack - I have two, both gifts. Can’t wear them out, very strong and durable, well designed and comfortable. Handle on top for carrying if you wish.

Pure Luxuries sell some lovely backpacks too. This one is in the sale at £69, and if you sign up for marketing emails you get 10% off.

Another Roka fan. The magnets on the flap on the rucksack are part of a great design. Roka bags wash well too…

Have a look on the FatFace website.

I have a sling bag from Amazon. I wear it across my front. It is light and I’ve found it really useful.
