I have a MiaTui one. Looks good and is also very useful, with plenty of handy pockets and different features.

I bought a MiaTui bag and found it to look cheap and tacky and very heavy BEFORE anything was put in it.

Won't be buying from then again and do not recommend either.

Another vote for Roka. I have the small as handbag (straps and hand holds) and the large as a rucksack. Many colours and pockets and wipe clean. If you want to see them in person they are sold at National Trust shops

Celtic & Co do a smart one, that down't look too 'rucksacky', for about £150. A bit pricey but their stuff is well made and lasts forever.

I got a neat one in Monsoon. I occasionally do charity walks and can fit in essentials, including snacks, a drink, keys, my purse etc.

Another for Roka. I even wear my Roka bag cross body over traditional winter coat.
Lovely colours and not expensive.

Rosa, John Lewis sells them but there's more colours on their website, so many people have them and they have loads of 5`* trust pilot reviews

Love Roka!

Something like this? I’ve had a Spikes and Sparrow backpack for years, and they are one of those things that get better with age. Available on Amazon, and not expensive. There are different colours and styles. This one is £85.

Another vote for ROKA, and they have a fun ‘lucky dip’ going at the moment and you can pick up a bargain.

The John Lewis website also over 100 on there, different brands and price points.

I got mine off Etsy there is a wide choice there and various colours. Plus real leather and vegan leather ones . I like to support small businesses so that's always my first port of call.

Mwdebbie if you like the look of the Aspinal reporter backpack, I've bought very similar twice from TKMaxx. Of course you have to keep checking the stores as they have a constantly changing selection.

Look on the Roka website. They are lovely colours , very practical and wipe clean

Thanks so much for all these suggestions- having fun looking online (though Longchamps and Aspinalls are out of my price range!!!)

I have a Harris tweed one - in pinks and purple tweed. Not at all outdoorsy - so i love it.

Well…if you have spare cash, look at Aspinals of London, leather reporter bag. Only £600😂

Worth every penny, well made and long lasting.

Healthy Back Bags have lovely (very comfortable) styles.

Another vote for Mia Tui; they’re roomy and have a secure pocket at the back for your purse.

I got a nice Radley one in Racing Green from an outlet store a fortnight ago. It was around £100.
My DD seems to have commandeered it.

Longchamps have several on their website, also available at John Lewis.

Kipling do a lovely lightweight small backpack, with plenty of zip up sections and you can fit quite a lot in. Nice styles as well.

Please can anyone suggest where I can find a backpack style handbag that doesn’t look like a walking rucksack or something a Swedish schoolchild would carry (which is what I’m currently using and it’s old, scruffy and tbh not age-appropriate!)
