I have been wearing lipstick all of my life but of later years I have noticed that you put it on and when you look in the mirror about an hour later - non existent. Any suggestions for one that will stay on. I dont like dark colours ie bright red but tend to buy pinky colours. Despite my username I can assure you I am a lady of nearly 80 years.

I always wear matte lipstick it has more staying power and it’s always red.

Look for a lipstain lippy, go on to Amazon or ask in Boots for it.

I like Charlotte Tilbury - it stays on me whenever I wear it.

It also has a "try-it-on" option on the website where you can see the colour on your own lips.

This was recommended to me recently. It’s inexpensive and really good! It does stay on. Maybelline 24 hour lipstick.

Dior and Chanel last and more recently I bought a Givenchy one in Covent Garden while on a day trip, Its a fabulously glossy but horribly expensive brand but I do love this lipstick.

@FriedGreenTomatoes2 that's the only lipstick I wear because I'm lazy with reapplying. I would say to use a lip scrub and some Vaseline/lip balm half an hour before applying then give lips a thorough clean before putting the lip colour on. Also, apply in thin layers or it will peel off. Allow to thoroughly dry before applying the balm

I have been using Maybelline lipstick wands which are often on 3 for 2 offer in Boots. Good range of colour. Only problem is removing it!! Might need an electric toothbrush.....

I’m younger than you (62) but I paid to have my lip colour tattooed on. Life saver. A bit of Vaseline and I’m good to go. Sounds a lot more painful than it is. The girl that did it used loads of numbing cream. It lasts up to 5 years too.
It puts back the line that you lose as you get older. Yes it’s not for everyone but I love it and I’m not really one to have work done usually.

Max factor lipfinity. I have used for years. Lasts very well indeed.

I have used Lipcote for years, it works on any lipstick.

I love lip wands .. currently wearing Revlon colorstay satin ink..which suits my skin tone and because of blood thinners which give you purple lips, am happy with the lip stain as gives a more burgundy colour
