Hi. I said I would come back and let you know about the Kalms. I’d been taking them for a while, but sometimes I was a bit dizzy if I woke up in the night.
I haven’t taken any for about 4 weeks now and haven’t had any dizziness 🤞Might be coincidence, but I’m not going to take anymore.

Be careful with Kalms. I started taking them when suffering from anxiety but if you are taking the original Kalms with valerian, valerian can also cause vivid worrying dreams. I had terrible dreams in which I felt I was awake and would get out of bed checking for a coded escape route highlighted on the floor that was a matter of life and death. I had this same dream several times as well is others.
Dizziness didn’t happen which is just as well because I suffer from vertigo.

Hi. Yes they do help during the day and they help me to sleep, but I won’t be taking them if it proves they’re making me dizzy.

Carmen54 Wed 22-Jan-25 11:04:56

Okay Katyj yes try that. Did they help calm you

Carmen Hi. I bought a new bottle about two months ago. I’ve been taking them most nights since then. I’ve only had the dizziness since last week. It might not be them, but I’m not going to take them for the next few nights and see. I’ll let you know.

Carmen. I take these occasionally through the day but mainly at night. I didn’t know about the side effects but I have been feeling dizzy if I’ve woken up during the night. I hate it too. Might have to switch to something else.

They are not terribly effective, I'm afraid. On the plus side, they don't seem to have side-effects. You would be better off investing in some lavender oil.

Cabowich Wed 22-Jan-25 09:54:21

I've taken them before and found them to be totally ineffective - it must depend on the person taking them as to whether they work or not.

I'd be guided by the pharmacist.
They're the experts in medication, more so than GPS.

I do take Sitagliotin which is due to being type 2 diabetic

But called the Chemist and they said it was okay to take Kalms

But apparently taking the two together can lower blood sugars more

Carmen54 Wed 22-Jan-25 09:08:06

Thanks everyone

My main fear is that they will make me feel dizzy...as this is said to be a possible side affects

I really hate feeling dizzy

I have taken them occasionally if I feel very anxious, but don't become dependent on them. As others said check that it won't interfere with your prescribed medicine.

Marydoll Wed 22-Jan-25 09:01:07

If you are on any other medication, it would be foolish to take KALMS, without checking for contraindications.

Smileless2012 Wed 22-Jan-25 09:00:32

There are two types of Kalms, one as an aid for sleep and one for stress/anxiety.

I have taken the latter in the past and found them effective.

MissAdventure Wed 22-Jan-25 08:55:25

I've no personal experience, and I'm rather sceptical, but! I have known a good few people who swear by them.

A young woman with various issues (not least of which, anorexia) who totally put her ability to gradually heal down to soothing her mind with Kalms.

Go to Google and see if Kalms will react with any other medication you are on. Some Herbal remedies will interact with other over the counter and prescribed medication.

Or go to your Pharmacy and double check.

Kalms is a herbal medication. Not a prescribed medication. I always thought it was to help people sleep. Be careful if you are taking prescription drugs as some herbal products don't mix with them . And can stop prescription drugs working effectively.
