New fridge/freezer

The best fridge freezer I ever had was a Fisher Paykel.
They are deep and wide, a true American fridge freezer, I was never short of space when I had one.

It went with the house unfortunately and I really regret selling it!

They don’t come cheap but they are outstanding.

I like the convenience of the American-style fridge-freezer but we had to buy a second freezer as the US one is a bit small.

I use the freezer in my current American fridge freezer as a sort of holding place for opened veg, frozen chips, bread and stuff on it's way to or from the big freezer in the garage.

I’ve heard it all now - a dishwasher with wi-fi ? What does that mean ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Apparently our new dishwasher has Wifi 🤔

So, presumably if we load it up and forget to switch it on then go away, we can tell it to turn itself on from wherever in the world! 😀

I quite like the stainless steel Ametican style fridge freezers, wish I'd insisted on having one, not something that fits in with the look of the kitchen.

Both our new washing machine and dryer have AI, play a little tune when finished and I can see what’s going on on my phone, like how long left or where in cycle it is.

Is it helpful, not really but I do live a gadget and seeing things on my phone! Hahaha

Big Brother is watching you 😃

Bosch American fridge freezer. Well pleased.

Ours is a Fisher-Pykel, 20years old, stainless steel and quite wide. It has an ice maker and a cold water dispenser with the filter on the wall next to the fridge.
It has 2 large freezer drawers at the bottom and quite a large fridge.
I like the drawers. The ice maker is OK but only makes small cubes that seem to melt quite quickly.
The water dispenser is much liked by visiting children, they seem to like filling their own glasses from the squirty thing. It also doesn’t take up any space inside the fridge.

I like the one's where you can see what's in them without opening the door .
They're mostly glass so fit in with any kitchen.

We bought a Bosch one from John Lewis recently and really pleased with it. No ice dispenser but not bothered with that really. There are so many to choose from so just look for what suits you.

I thought they had been part of AGA for a while but our new cooker is a Rangemaster so I think they have kept their own label. But I will check out Aga.

Our current one has it's filter on the outside but it is in the cupboard next to it. Ours is 20 years old.

I didn't know you could get them
inside.

GG, I got really excited about having a Rangemaster to go with the cooker. Sadly, they don't make them anymore.

I think they been taken over by Aga now? When I needed a part for our 15 yr old Rangemaster fridge I was redirected to Aga for the part. The filter is on the inside.

We have a Samsung with ice and water dispenser. One thing to look for is to have the water filter inside the fridge, which we had in our first one, and thought the all were like that. Bizarrely our current one has the filter outside, which meant having to pull the whole thing out to turn off the water behind it, until we mounted the filter in a cupboard with a separate tap. But they are excellent for storage, and the filtered water and ice cubes are great.

We have a Rangemaster American style fridge freezer in the kitchen with two freezer draws. We are really pleased with it.

We have a hotpoint American style in the garage with a side by side fridge and freezer, it’s a work horse.

Ooh, and what about drawers - are they good?

kittylester Sun 09-Feb-25 17:41:53

Our fridge is playing up again (and I only cleaned it last year!) so we are looking at the options.

We are looking for an American fridge freezer. There does not seem to be the option for a white one, which we would prefer, but can I have some opinions of the best ones around.

We would also like a water/ice dispenser on the outside if possible.

Has anyone got experience of the ones with wifi? What do you use it for?

Any help gratefully received, thank you
