Clocks and Mirrors.

For no real reason, I have just walked round our bungalow counting how many clocks and mirrors we have.

14 of each.

I like to see plenty of them surrounding me for some obscure reason.

DH thinks we have too many, but I like to hear a ticking clock, not that they all tick, and mirrors reflect light.

Ooh, forgot - there are 2 sliding mirrored doors on our built in wardrobe.

We love lught!

We have four mirrors and 7 clocks. Only three of the clocks are actual clocks, the other four are echo devices with digital clocks, one each in the kitchen and living room and the other two in bedrooms.

No clocks and 3 mirrors

Whitewavemark2 Sun 16-Feb-25 10:22:35

7 mirrors

1 grandmother clock in the hall, ticks and chimes.

1 chiming mantle lock in one reception room. 7 other clocks

Why do people need so many mirrors?

kittylester Sun 16-Feb-25 10:26:27

They reflect light and add interest to a room's decor.

Mirrors reflect light and can provide the illusion of space in small areas such as hallways and bathrooms.
I do so like a clock here and there
All that’s required is a willing “ handyperson” ….or perhaps I could get around to learning how to use that drill I bought 🤗

Six clocks (not counting the two bedside radio-clocks) and seven mirrors, plus mirrors in both bathrooms. In a two-bedroom home. (Almost all of them were bought in charity shops.) Like other GNs here, I love the light which comes from having mirrors around.

I kitchen clock and six mirrors - two are on wardrobe doors.

I live in a two bedroom bungalow.

Ahh, so it's purely a decor thing then? I just had visions of you all going around admiring your reflections in all those mirrors all day!

Cabbie21 Sun 16-Feb-25 11:43:46

Two mirrors in the bathroom and one in the hall. I try to avoid them.
A carriage clock in the sitting room which needs winding weekly. A battery one in my study. A wall clock in the kitchen, plus those on the cooker and microwave. Bedside clock radio.
DH collected clocks but I have sold them all ( about 18) bar one.

Absolutely this. I don’t like gloom, and mirrors make a huge difference to the feel of rooms.

2 clocks on the wall…kitchen and living room. 2 bedside clocks. Four mirrors, plus mirrored wardrobe doors.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 16-Feb-25 12:12:17

We have mirrors in every room also the hallway.

Not so many clocks, just a half case grandmother clock in the dining room (my paternal grandparents), a gold ormolu carriage clock in the sitting room and a clock radio in our bedroom.

Every flipping appliance in the kitchen and laundry has its own individual clock 🤬

God, no! That would be scary!

Norah Sun 16-Feb-25 12:23:06

10 mirrors, 5 clocks

NonGrannyMoll Sun 16-Feb-25 12:28:54

6 mirrors (in a 10-room house) - oh no, 7 (counting my grandma's old overmantel).
8 clocks (10 if you count the clocks on 2 computers)
Anecdote: We once had a wind-up clock in the bedroom. Its clanky ticking drove me mad so it was relegated to DH's study. He told his mum about it and from then on, whenever we stayed with her, she went to great pains to put all her clocks in a cupboard (except one, which was battery-powered). It was strangely soothing, not knowing what the heck the time was without going into her living room.

Georgesgran Sun 16-Feb-25 13:21:45

I’ve just worked out mirrors in every room, except the utility and family rooms. Only 2 actual clocks, both wall, one in the study and a big skeleton one in the master bathroom - which no one uses!
I always wear a watch, and lots of appliances around the house tell the time too.

Jane43 Sun 16-Feb-25 13:30:17

Five wall clocks, four mirrors plus mirrored doors on one wardrobe and mirrors on doors of two bathroom cabinets.

AuntieE Sun 16-Feb-25 14:01:39

2 alarm clocks in bedroom plus 2 mirrors, wall clock in kitchen plus digital clock as a feature of the oven, sitting-room clock, currently not working, one in study, which works if I remember to wind it, and a bathroom mirror and adjustable shaving mirror.

twinnytwin Sun 16-Feb-25 14:15:20

19 mirrors and 9 clocks. Many of the mirrors were from my parents/parents in law homes and are mainly for decoration. We do have a four bedroom home, with large hall.

Oreo Sun 16-Feb-25 14:25:57
