I had a similar issue when applying for my global health card-‘ unable to confirm your identity! I was also born and bred here. I had to supply several types of paperwork. I thought it might be because I am not on longer on the open publicly available electoral role list. I don’t remember a similar issue with my state pension.

Thanks ladies.
It was mystifying as it only asked if l'd worked or lived outside the UK, what my bank details were and what my marital status was! It was them that sent me the letter so presumably they'd got my details from somewhere! I'll try and ring them again on Monday. At least l've got 4 months to try to sort it out before l'm 66smile

Hello Grans
Just some advice please if anyone can help?
I had a letter today inviting me to apply for my state pension online (my 66th birthday is in July) l filled in the questions-(there weren't many,)and after filling them in a reply popped up saying 'we are unable to verify your identity' there were no instructions so l decided to ring the number on the letter and sat on the phone for over an hour but no reply whatsoever, has anyone else had this or can suggest what to do next? Thanks so much

Is there a FAQ section on the website? Could you write to them? I have in the past written to them and received a reply.

How darn annoying to hold on for an hour!! And no reply. 😑

I had a letter sent to me with instructions how to apply on line. A few weeks later applied on line I waited about a month after application. I received a letter informing me of amount to expect and payment dates. It wasn’t at all complicated unlike people I knew who found it was rather a hassle.

When I applied for mine it was a nightmare. I didn't get sn invitation to apply with the code. Tried to go on line. Like you it wouldn't verify me
I think it was because I hadn't used a credit card do had no history.
Eventually o phoned and asked for paper application form.
Took 2 calls to get it. I got pension Eventually but still don't get letters etc.
I think you can request forms on line now.
Good luck.
