What will my son look like?

I'm in an interracial relationship, I'm a blue eyed blond with very fair skin, my boyfriend is a very dark black man. I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant with our son. I was wondering what he's going to look like. Will he have blue eyes and fair skin like mine or will he dark skin, like his father, or somewhere in-between?

He will be gorgeous.

Just wondering why someone would come on this particular forum with that question. Very strange.

Meghan Markle has come back to haunt us!
Most families ask this question, which is perfectly natural. A couple can have any number of children and each one will be different.
When my first baby was about to be born, the midwife said, 'It's got black hair!' I'm sure she thought I was married to a non-white. However, my daughter was as pink as they come and blue eyed. It's just that all the other babies in the nursery were bald, whereas mine had a thatch of dark hair.

Lori2005 posted today on the Valentine thread. She said that she was still in love with her ex. She feels only lust for her present boyfriend but presumably, he the one she is 26 weeks pregnant by.

Curiouser and curiouser as Alice would say.

Ah, lust, I dimly remember that.

The baby will look like itself and the main thing isn't colour but that's it's healthy and will be much loved .

First thing I asked when my daughter was born 41 years ago was was she ok and had all her fingers and toes . But I was off my head from gas and air and a general as I had a c section in the end . Asked the same thing when my son was born 4 years later.

Whose baby is it?

Perhaps therein lies the dilemma

BlueBelle Sun 16-Mar-25 23:21:29

I wasn’t suggesting you were making anything up Jaxjacky but the name doesn’t show up in the search facility obviously the search facility is lacking, anyway reading that other post makes it even more concerning or at very least makes less sense.

Given what OP says about still being in love with her ex- boyfriend, this sounds like an unfortunate situation

I’m also not in the habit of making things up.

Whats curious to me is the responses assuming that the OP is hoping baby boy has blue eyes/ blonde hair. I didn't read it as racist in any way. Just took it on face value.

Presume this is a joke thread perhaps to get the racists blood boiling
‘Will it have blue eyes and blonde hair like mine ?’ 🤣🤣🤣
Are schools out at the moment ?
How old are you Lori 2005 perhaps your name gives a clue making you 20 so what’s the point in joining a grans site with a ridiculous question ??

Lori is on the Valentines thread, so not new on this one only

If you put Lori2005 into the search engine it doesn’t give her on any other threads JaxJacky

Much of it depends on the genes of your antecedents and statistical chances.

For instance blue eyes are a dominant gene so if your husband has a blue eyed ancestor the chances of your baby having blue eyes are statistically greater than if all your husbands ancestors have been brown eyed.

Red hair is a recessive gene and can pop up randomly even if there have been no red haired antecedents for generations. It will always be carried.

It’s a fascinating study but one that needs a bit more research than Gransnet.

‘Will it have blue eyes and blonde hair like mine ?’

My father had blue eyes and blond hair, only one of us inherited blond hair (it wasn't me) and none of us blue eyes but one of my DC did. Presumably DH carried a recessive gene too but from where I have no idea.

It doesn’t matter he will be amazing and you will love every inch of him.

Elowen33 Sun 16-Mar-25 16:06:03

Nobody knows, it will be a lovely surprise.

Lovemylife Sun 16-Mar-25 15:46:29

Don’t all parents wonder what their unborn child will look like? Genetics are fascinating. I have blue eyes, my ex was from an unbroken line of brown eyes. Children all have green eyes. Never expected that!

Kim19 Sun 16-Mar-25 15:06:54

He will be 50% of both of you. Wonderful!
