Fabric glue

I want to put some white binding onto sleeve of a 1950s silky type blouse. Also take gem up in a dress.
Ive never used fabric glue before.
Sounds like a sticky mess waiting to happen…,
Please could you put me straight.
Is it worth using? Does it show through the fabric? Will stand up to lots of washing?
Any brands better than others?

Personally, I would never permanently glue a garment……..I’ve used temporary glue stick, rather like Pritt stick but for fabric, on small items to anchor whilst sewing but never for a permanent hold.

No don`t use glue, use small thin pins to hold the binding in place tack and then hand sew with small neat stitches and a fine needle
