Referral to online weight management programme- anyone done it?

My husband had to fill in a form yesterday for his annual review. We went through the web address on the GP's form and he got an invite to a weight management programme which he declined. I think the site is set up to trigger this message if your weight is over a certain measure. It's normally the nurses or health assistants who deal with annual reviews so maybe that's why the receptionist did not know about it. Many of these reminders are set up to automatically send an invite and then someone in the surgery picks it up.

Thankyou silver my neighbour did a similar one to you- the one I’ve been referred for is just online though.

Thanks Blossoming for looking it up. I did similar and found the same information which is genuine enough- it’s just strange that my gps surgery has no idea who referred me.
I only rang the surgery to say that I wanted to defer starting it due to holidays and the secretary had no idea what I was talking about. Very puzzling.

This course was not online but at a local leisure centre

I have done the 12 week course via my surgery and found it helpful snd informative. The second half of the session we did a workout which was divided between those needing to be seated and those who could stand.

Title should have also included that’s it’s an NHS funded 12 programme, apparently…

Oh thanks for that Monk the receptionist really was at a loss as to how to proceed and basically agreed with my suggestions to leave it for now.

There was an item on morning live today about scams from GP surgeries, you did the right thing checking with your surgery.

Some info on the NHS website. The programme is genuine but the message you’ve received may not be. You’re right to be wary, so many scammers about these days.

Just that really. Got a txt yesterday from NHS saying my surgery had referred me onto the NHS 12 week online weight management programme with a link to click. Its not the calorie counting NHS app which is completed on a daily basis- this is very different with help, advice and a support group if required, seemingly.

The text had all my medical details and the surgery- all were correct but when I checked there was no record of it being sent or forwarded from my surgery which seems strange- as anything I receive from them is listed on my health record on the app.

Consequently I rang the surgery, spoke with a medical secretary who looked at my record and told me what I already knew, that there was no record of this message any where, so they didnt send it and she couldnt find who had referred me!

Another query of mine was that I hadn't had my 12 month review- its due in July so why refer randomly now? She fully understood my confusion as I left her confused too, adding that anyway I wouldnt be able to access it or start it now as Im on holiday over the next 2 weeks.

Upshot is, shes going to try to find out who referred and suggests I dont sign up until after my holiday, or wait until my review to discuss it then. Happy with both those options.
