Squeaky boot - what to do

They sound new, take them to a cobbler, if you can find one, he will diagnose and cure the problem

Thanks everybody. I am working on the theory of leather rubbing together and am going to try to soften some areas of the upper to see if that works.

Some soles decay from the inside out. These can squeak until they are finished deteriorating and then they just flop off!
I had this.

It was a "quality" pair too.

I don't think others notice it as much as you do. My friend had squeeky shoes- I hadn't noticed until she told me and then I couldn't un-hear them!

My boots are 4 years old and still creak when I walk. No idea why .

I think Magenta8 has nailed it to be honest, lots of good quality boot polish and the old fashioned elbow grease should cure the squeak.

My mum used to say that footwear that squeaked hadn’t been paid for 😂

You need to find exactly where the squeak is coming from. I know this sounds obvious. The usual cause for creaky squeaks is where the fabric or leather has become dry and is rubbing so softening with shoe polish or vaseline might help depending on where the sound is coming from. Creaking could be caused by loose soles or heels which you might be able to stick with glue or get a shoe mender to look at.
