Who will be watching Wimbledon this year?

To be honest I prefer clay court tennis, but am more than happy to watch. Just concerned about the heat this year.

I’m backing Sinner ?

Andrew Castle was Britain’s No 1 when we didn’t have any other decent players! I think his highest singles ranking was only 80

Castle was not a great player, doubt he was in a final but could be mistaken

He was in the doubles final of the Australian Open and won three doubles finals, was in the British Olympics team and, of course, the Davis cup team.

I think he was then a TV presenter but I'm not keen on his coverage of Wimbledon.

Thank you Allira , I can’t recall having any hopes when he was playing.

I lose hope when he's commentating, Anniebach!

How on earth did Kartal turn that around!

J52 Fri 04-Jul-25 14:37:51

Well done Sonnay! A Brit through!

MayBee70 Fri 04-Jul-25 15:19:16

I actually found myself welling up when she won. I don’t usually get emotional about tennis.

Heart in mouth watching Norrie! Bellucci is rather nice though.

I’m glad you are enjoying this thread about the tennis Sparklefizz. 👍🎾🎾👍😎

My knowledge of tennis is similar to my knowledge of football in that I don’t really understand what’s going on but I do know if I’m watching a good game or match. I can’t remember ever before enjoying virtually every match ( game? I don’t even know the correct term to use) as much as I have this week. Especially as those that have lost have, in general, gone down fighting and not disgraced in any way.

Sonay and Cam 🥳 Just Emma to go… 🤞

woodenspoon Fri 04-Jul-25 17:32:13

Really good matches so far. I think Emma will go out unfortunately.

Is Draper actually 4th in the world ratings? If so I missed his rise through the ranks!

Pantglas2 Fri 04-Jul-25 19:41:40

Oh mi Carlitos…🥰

MayBee70 Fri 04-Jul-25 19:49:30

He seems very vulnerable this year.

nanaK54 Fri 04-Jul-25 19:54:22

Great tennis today.

C'mon Emma you can do it!

Pantglas2 Fri 04-Jul-25 19:56:36

And isn’t that part of his charm Maybee? I’m not keen on robotic tennis and I know Djokovic is the best player, best stats etc he doesn’t appeal 🤷‍♀️

keepingquiet Fri 04-Jul-25 20:09:26

Great tennis today- saw the Norrie match and the end of the Alcaraz too. Now getting into the big one- come on Emma!

Smileless2012 Fri 04-Jul-25 20:21:54

Norrie's match was the big one for me, and what a matchsmile.

I don’t follow it enough to know if he often struggles in his matches. I know I could never understand how Nadal used to come back from seemingly impossible situations. Not being a sportsperson I know that I’d just give up straight away!

Come on Emma.
This is going to be a nail biter!
