Always St Anthony for me, if he fails I know I’m in trouble!

I call on Archangel Michael to help find lost objects, but you can also call on Archangel Chamuel, who is also believed to be the angel in charge of helping you reunite with lost objects.

Try if you can remember exactly what you did when you came home from the funeral.

All the ordinary things, like hanging up your outdoor clothes, taking shoes off, going to the toilet, changing out of your suitable funeral wear and into something more comfortable.

Retrace your steps through the house, checking shelves, occasional tables etc. where you might, just might, have put the ring down. Did your phone ring just after you came home, and if so, where did you sit or stand while talking to the caller?

I have sometimes found things this way.

If it does not work, empty and clean the fridge!

I know it sounds ridiculous, but lost items have been known to turn up in my fridge. Another thing is that you can clean the fridge without really thinking about what you are doing, so you may suddenly remember where you put your ring.

If not at least the fridge is clean!

I hope you find your ring.

I recently panicked because I had "lost" my wedding ring. It turned up in the finger tip of my gardening gloves!

Good luck with finding yours ..

I found my ‘lost’ ring in the lining of the inside pocket of an old handbag. The lining was torn and the ring slipped in between.
I might have removed the ring and put it there, when I was doing the dishes in my son’s house.

Good luck with finding your precious ring Flakesdayout. I quite often misplace items, and they do turn up. 🤞

I hope your ring has turned up?
If not and you need to claim for it on your house insurance, check the terms of your policy very carefully. A similar thing happened to a friend, but she only noticed her ring missing when she was at home later. She couldn’t remember taking it off at home and a thorough search revealed nothing. Her friend told her to say it had been lost while she was out, as ‘misplaced in the home’ wouldn’t be covered by the insurance. It never did turn up.

Has it turned up?
I lost my bus pass yesterday. I realise it's not the same but I had that awful feeling of loss and frustration.

It has just turned up! So I thought of you and the ring

Flakesdayout

In answer to your replies. I have checked the pockets of my trousers. Did not wear a jacket. Have checked my handbag - three times. Yes it is in the house somewhere. I took it off as it fits well and would not slip off. The bathroom will be next on the list. I have asked my Mum to help find it (she died in 2017) (daft I know) so will ask St. Anthony too.

Do you remember precisely where you took it off to?

I’d check other jewellery boxes too. I’d be quite likely to absent mindedly put a piece of jewellery into the wrong box when getting changed.

Grammaretto Thu 03-Jul-25 07:16:29

Laundry basket?

Coconutty Thu 03-Jul-25 07:14:01

I would try and retrace your steps if you can. Otherwise I would go drawer by drawer. Good luck.

Calendargirl Thu 03-Jul-25 06:59:11

And at least you found it Nanna, broken or not.

Better than wondering what happened to it.

nanna8 Thu 03-Jul-25 06:30:37

I found my watch today. It had been missing for a couple of days and there it was, smashed to smithereens at the top of our driveway. Road casualty. Ah well, you can’t take these things with you ,as they say.

Calendargirl Thu 03-Jul-25 06:28:19

Did you bring a service card home from the funeral? Could the ring have slipped off if you filed the card away somewhere?

I hope you find it. 🤞

NotAGran55 Thu 03-Jul-25 06:27:01

I took my earrings off and put them into my purse on autopilot for safe keeping, and found them several weeks later when I next needed a coin.
Good luck with your search.

Have you looked inside the bathroom cabinet if you have one?
Taken off to wash your hands 🤔

Astitchintime Thu 03-Jul-25 05:46:40

I generally find ‘ misplaced items’ when I’m looking for something else. With ordinary items it doesn’t seem quite so important, I just think oh, it’ll turn up. But something expensive and precious is another matter and I do sympathise Flakesdayout.
Have you checked all the bins that you may have used when you returned to the house? Could you get a relative or close friend to look for it with you?
Do come back and tell us when it turns up…..good luck with the search.

I came in to the office after lunch one day, had an appointment later in the afternoon. When time to leave for appt, couldn't find my keys. Coworkers tried to help me to no avail. Drove a coworker's car to appt, then back to office determined to find keys. By this time, everyone on the whole floor was on the lookout for the keys - After all, I used them to return to office after lunch! Finally, someone suggested re-enacting every step I had taken when I returned after lunch. Now, this was back when we used telephone (large) books. Guess what! When I opened the phonebook, there were my keys! I didn't often use that phone book so no telling when I would have found them.
So try that! Try to remember if you had done some unusual little thing you don't normally do! Good Luck!

Ask St Anthony patron Saint of lost things.
It will probably turn up. Did it fall off or did you take it off?
Bathroom?
Down the side of the chair?
I hate losing things so I'm very sympathetic.

fancythat Wed 02-Jul-25 21:18:08

Are you sure it is in the house?

butterandjam Wed 02-Jul-25 20:15:14

Remember your funeral outfit , and search the pockets. and whichever handbag you used that day...

Flakesdayout Wed 02-Jul-25 20:11:09

I have misplaced an expensive ring which I wear for special occasions. I remember where I was wearing it and now cannot find it - anywhere. It is not in its box or in my ring box. Any ideas of where I should start? I am thinking of taking my bedroom apart drawer by drawer etc etc. I could kick myself for being so careless but had attended a close family members funeral and had other things on my mind.
