Hallo all. Just home very jet lagged and disorganised. Is the Whitby wheel still there please? I didnt manage to get to the one in Ripon but would like to go to the whitby one. Anyone been on it and how much did it cost?? Will be back on gransnet when I just get my head together and things a bit sorted here

The same wheel visited Ripon earlier this year, unfortunately one of the generators caught fire, it became known as the Ripon rotisserie😱.

So many interesting graves in St Mary’s churchyard. William Scoresby (arctic explorer) is there and a couple born and died on 19th September who married each other on the 19th Sept too.
Tom Thumb’s headstone has not weathered well and I don’t think you can still see it.
Humpty Dumpty was used from that vantage point too Allira, if indeed it’s the same one from the siege of Colchester. It fell and shattered when the wall under it collapsed under parliamentary cannon fire. (Sounds too similar to the Colchester legend to me!)

Supposedly fell during the siege of Colchester.

So why is it in Whitby, I wonder?

Photo on facebook of the new Whitby Big Wheel, I googled Maps to see where it was positioned and on expanding the area, noted Humpty Dumpty's Grave! hubby didnt believe me, so I have shown him the map and got info about it (its a Canon) but now need to flipping research Tom Thumbs grave which is also mentioned lol (I am expecting that to be very small). Funny how, just looking at something opens up such interesting facts.
