DH is 80 in a month or so. I have his main present sorted but does any one have any ideas for lovely, or fun, extras please.

Some grandchildren live near the Warner Studios, corner so worth a thought, thank you.

Some great ideas here, thank you all.

Lego!

I’ve just given some Stars wars to a 79 year old.

He’s having such a good time😂

My husband who’s 71 loves Lego. He’s a Lego VIP for the discounts and his office shelves all have Lego sets on them including the Titanic!
He used to make kits and paint them but can no longer do the fiddly bits so Lego is ideal.

Agree with you it makes a great present.

Mr C is a Harry Potter fan, he had a a (far too!) large Lego kit and a visit to the Warners Studio where we both rode a broomstick. Not for Mr Lester I’m sure, but may spark an idea.

There are some amazing Lego kits - animals, birds, movies

Monmouthcoffee.co.uk do subscriptions for keen coffee drinkers. My son enjoys the one he receives from his father in law.

What about a night out at a jazz club with dinner?

My 69yr old husband likes tech (despite not overly expert in it) he got a smart watch this year, previously he’s had a payment ring which is programmed to pay for shopping instead of a contactless debit card, a smart tile which combined with your smart phone you can track your house keys with, he even bought a tumble dryer that you can start with an app

My DH is also 80 in a couple of weeks, but he had a brain haemorrhage in Feb this year and is now hemiplegic. Also put on a bit of weight, so chocolate etc out! Some lovely ideas for Kittylester, any suggestions from partners of stroke victims? Don't want to hijack the thread through.

Hijack away B9. I'm sorry, I didn't know about your DH.

My DH's main is art lessons - though I'm now having a wobble about it.

He is good at drawing and is about to give up volunteer driving so I thought it might give him another interest.

He goes to gym classes 2 or 3 times a week and watches a lot of sport on TV. He has a season ticket for Nottingham Forest and is a huge jazz fan.

Any new suggestions would be very welcome. Panicking now!!

Take him out to a special tea? One that consists of everything under the sun (scones, sandwiches, little cakes, biscuits etc etc). Always a huge treat I reckon!

Milliedog Sat 12-Jul-25 14:54:48

A jigsaw of his favourite photo (wedding photo?)

Milliedog Sat 12-Jul-25 14:53:28

A jigsaw puzzle of his favourite photo / one of your wedding photos?

Biscuiteers (online lovely iced biscuits) make good little presents though not cheap. Also I have ordered afternoon tea hampers with scones and clotted cream which family members have enjoyed.

How about a newspaper on the date he was born I am sure he would find it interesting.

You'd soon get fed up of eggs bread but I could cope with the variety!

Kate1949 Thu 10-Jul-25 18:33:55

Oo I love eggy bread. Mine cooks curries (grinds his own spices), stir fries, pies, lasagnes, bread, beef cobbler things, soups. Thede are two recent loaves. They were gorgeous
I need him to stop because of my ever expanding waistline. He is slim. He is a real treasure though.
