I’ve used the Bissell HydroSteam on my car seats and it worked surprisingly well. It’s lightweight and doesn’t feel like a chore to pull out for quick jobs.

I nearly went for that one, kind of wish I had just bought it then & there as it was on offer at JL.

Ended up with the basic Vax one. ( it has a red body), tbh, the brush is quite stiff, I would be frightened of pulling the linen fabric on my sofa.

Vax spot wash. Removed the marks on my new sofa, the stiff brush was fine.
Good thing is you can clean the hose by attaching the end to the machine, which flushes water through the pipe.
Great little machine.

Ahh thanks Everyone. Still doing my homework. Homebargains do various carpet cleaning products cheaper so may just chance it.

The instructions for my Vax do say that we should use their liquid. I doubt I will, though, once the bottle I bought alongside it is done. It’s nice enough, with a pleasant smell, but pricey.

It says you should, but I never have done. I don’t like the Rug Doctor cleaning fluid, because i found it leaves a slightly sticky finish. I usually use Astonish now, which is very effective.

These brands, do you have to use their own bottles of cleaner? They seem really expensive.

I bought a Rug Doctor spot cleaner a few years ago, which is very effective. What I’ve found though is that it’s either too effective, or the cleaning fluid changes the colour of the area I’ve cleaned. Even after rinsing, the cleaned area stands out from the area around it. For that reason, I bought a full size carpet cleaner subsequently, which doesn’t cause the same issue.

I have a Vax Spotwash, which actually does a better job on my sofas than the professional we had in last year. smile I would say though that it’s very noisy - I have to pop my headphones on when I’m using it.

It would probably be cheaper and more efficient to have it done by a professional, Facebook is full of local carpet and upholstery cleaning firms.

Does any GN recommend a small spot stain remover machine, looking at bissell hydro steam, looking at the non steam there are some good reviews for vax, & shark. My car seats need a good clean.
