Potato side dish recipes please - preferably easy

We are having a creamy, marsala chicken dish next week and I'm looking for fresh ideas for potatoes to go with it.

For various reasons, rice or pasta are not options.

Sorry re-read your post .
Chicken marsala is not suitable for my potato salads -too creamy and spicy .
I'm used to veal marsala which I serve with a plain salad and lots of fresh green beans .
I think that I'd serve chicken marsala with boiled potatoes tossed in butter , spring onions and a little garlic and sprinkled with dill . Plus green beans !

It sounds lovely, Esmay. But not for a very saucy Italian dish.

Esmay

Wash and boil some waxy potatoes in salted water .
Set aside .
Mix Hellman's mayonnaise with double cream and and flavour with Dijon mustard.
Add any of the following :
Finely cut hard boiled eggs , spring onions ,celery ,gherkins and capers to taste .
Decorate with parsley.

Or as you've made a curry dish :

Omit the mustard and mix in some çurry powder .
I always do it overnight because the flavours need to develop .
Add finely chopped ingredients as before and top with plenty of freshly chopped coriander instead of parsley.
I tend to serve my potatoes salad warm .
I've made potato salad for 50 years without any complaint.

I think kittylester said it was an Italian dish, not curry - and as it was very creamy she didn’t want creamy potatoes

I make something similar to that with a chicken and tomato curry, Minimoon.

There is a lot of cream in the sauce for my dish so creamy potatoes like Dauphinoise are not really right.

I make an Indian potato side dish as

Peel potatoes and cut into wedges.
Bring a pan of water to the boil and add salt and a teaspoon of turmeric.
Add potatoes to the pan and boil until just done. Drain.
In a large frying pan melt approx 2oz butter or enough oil to coat the bottom.
Add potatoes, one teaspoon each of cumin seeds and fennel seeds to the pan.
Fry until the potatoes are brown at the edges.
Serve immediately.

I believe it's an Italian dish. Mother in Law made polenta to accompany. We no longer eat chicken, polenta remains a lovely side.

Vote for gnocchi here. I love Dauphinoise but usually to lift a non-saucy main like salmon or steak.
I'll look up chicken marsala, it sounds divine!

Smashed potatoes: Potatoes cooked partially mashed and then stir in horse radish, or lots and lots of butter, plus, possibly lots of grated parmesan. You could also stir in pesto and chopped sundried tomatoes.

At this time of year I make a big dish of roast veg, large chunky cubes of potatoes, carrots, aubergine, peppers, courgettes and whole garlic cloves (unpealed), salt and cracked pepper and a few sprigs of rosemary and thyme from the garden + a bit of oil and toss with hands- and into oven at 180C for 45 mins to an hour. Always a great success.

I do beans parboiled and then stir fried with garlic and ginger or garlic and quartered cherry tomatoes.

U fancy the beans with white wine - will give that a go.

Green beans par boiled, then finished in white wine, garlic and butter are gorgeous.

Sometimes I fry off lardons (no fat required) then add par boiled green beans a white wine.

Little new potatoes tossed in butter and olive oil, sprinkled with mixed herbs, put in oven till golden and crispy.

DH cooked chicken Marsala for us last night, it’s a family favourite, we had it with sauté potatoes and green beans.

My usual go to is small roast potatoes so I can stick them in the oven and forget them. I also do green beans - so not so different.

Chicken Marsala is an Italian chicken dish made with Marsala wine.

Chicken masala is an Indian dish made with tomatoes and spices.

Two totally different things.

Boil what you consider a suitable amount of potatoes for the number of people dining.

While the potatoes cool, whisk plain yoghurt or creme fraiche up with salt, pepper and a dash of lemon juice.

If you used new potatoes peel them after boiling, then whether the potatoes are new or old, cut them into cubes and mix into the yoghurt.

As chicken marsala is spicy, I would not add any spice to this mixture, unless you are certain everyone really likes hot dishes. Soured milk products are used in India to counteract too fiery a curry.

If everyone likes really hot food, you can add garlic and garam marsala to your potato side dish.

You can either serve it at room temperature or chilled from the fridge.

When I make chicken masala I add cumin, turmeric, garam, garlic, coriander, ginger - it is not particularly hot, we love hot food.
