What might happen now re police/social services...?

Hi all,
I'll keep this brief.
My Mother's neighbours since April have been an 88 year old, frail woman (same age as my mother) and her 30 year old
Grandson who is ostensibly her carer/cleaner too.
He apparently has OCD and has been a nightmare from day one - shouting, swearing at his grandmother, shutting the dog out to bark for hours, blasting loud music/tv from the house with all doors open, and smoking weed indoors and in the garden.
The grandmother confessed to him some weeks ago that she couldn't cope with him and he was out of control.
Mum raised concerns with adult safeguarding team at local council and at their behest, the police too.
Fast forward to this last week....grandmother rushed to hospital for unknown reason and grandson was swearing and verbally abusing my mum for 'spying' on him and then he started throwing litter at her house.I
Mum was terrified and rang 999.
Police took him away after a scuffle and the house remains empty 3 days on.
Anyone got a crystal ball as to what may happen next?
I'm so scared and worried for these two old ladies.

Honestly sounds like your mum did exactly the right thing by calling both safeguarding and the police. Once the police are involved and social services already have it on their radar, it’s likely they’ll step in to review the grandmother’s care situation. If she’s still in hospital, they’ll usually assess whether she’s safe to go back home or if extra support is needed.

You could speak to the police. Ask for the officer in charge of the case..if he's been charged or released under investigation, it's possible he's been given various conditions which 'could be' restrictions on his location.

Thanks both - we were wanting reassurance!
Neighbour's house remains empty - I'll certainly call police for an update if the old lady isn't home in a day or two.

Yes the police should be able to update you.
Don’t want to add to your concerns but is it possible the young man simply moves back in
Your local councillor might be a source of support if things revert

I think - and hope! - that with both Social Services and the police involved he won't be back anytime soon.
Making two old ladies,lives a misery should count for something.

I think you are right to be anxious and I'd tell the police and council etc that you are worried.

That is terrible. Thank goodness your Mum called in some help.

I hope the elderly lady is OK and that suitable support is organised that does not involve this young man, who sounds as if he is mentally unstable.
