I've seen a lovely long chiffon shirt type thing over wide leg trousers and cami.
It wasn't fussy, literally a long shirt!
My Daughter wants everyone to be comfy so i know she'd hate me in a dress because it's so not me!

This sounds like a good choice. Co-ord outfits are still fashionable and you can also then mix them up with other items for different occasions.

I have the same issue with being larger at the top and slimmer hips and legs. I would wear straight leg trousers and flat shoes in a bright eye catching colour. Wear a coloured top that gives a streamlined look and a necklace that draws attention from your top.half.

Couldn't agree more. DD (in her 50s) is plus size and your shape and always wears striking tops, colour and/or pattern over trousers, either straight legged or flowing, and she always looks great and garners compliments for her clothes.

Make sure it’s warm too, or layers, we went to a wedding in June and it was only 15 outside! Not much better in as people were in and out, good luck.

You'll be in the registry office for a short while then most of the time seated at the restaurant - so your top half is going to be on show a lot more than your trousers. I'd go for plain trousers and a really pretty top. After all it will be spring. I expect the younger guests will be in summery dresses

It's good to plan well in advance .
There's nothing wrong in wearing a trouser suit to a wedding if you don't like dresses /skirts . And flats are fine .
At the last wedding I went to some of the guests were staggering up and down a perilous flight of steps in the garden .Most work in the medical profession and wear trainers all day.
I thought that one of them would need an ambulance after a drink or two !
But please don't wear a fascinator.
A couple of ladies wore them and ended up in the loo removing them .
I just think that they can look wrong /too much .
If you are busty then I agree - minimise your boobs with a darker colour .

I reckon on going down a dress size with the right underwear .
From your description I think that you like to dress in a comfortable casual way .
I know that you don't normally , but consider some careful make up or you might look washed out in photographs .
I'd go to Boots and choose someone at a make up counter who isn't plastered in make up her advice.
Certainly a fake tan or some bronzer makes all the difference.
And think about hair !
Don't expect to get an outfit on one trip .
It might take a couple .
If you take a friend-choose one who is in tune with your style.

I found that after the ceremony and photographs no one noticed what we were wearing and relaxed.

Comfort first always. Been in similar situations and had pre-bought comfy shoes in a neutral colour and was advised to take them when looking for an outfit. So glad of that tip because wearing the right shoes with the outfits made all the different compared to trying outfits on barefoot and imagining how the overall look would be. I too used a personal shopper who gave me outfits to try on which I'd never have considered - one of which I bought. I know from personal experience that it's daunting but do as I did and made an appointment at small independent bridal shops as they also cater for MOB. Good luck, enjoy your day and post a photo.

No fashion advice from me Narnia , but some lovely suggestions here.
One useful tip may be to have a 'pre shopping' shopping trip, highlighting the shops of choice including a nice long tea break without the pressure to choose/buy!

Buy something you like, that you know suits your body shape and most of all that you’ll feel comfortable in.
I’ve just been MOB at one of my daughter’s weddings. They’ve been together 13 years and have two children. They’re party people, so it was a big party, posh frocks etc, I tried dresses and felt not me. I found trousers and a top I felt comfortable in. Gofor it. Treat yourself to something you really like.

If you're taller, then loose jacket and trousers in a soft fabric with a more fitted dark top could look lovely.

Although, I remember a friend who is only 5' wore something similar for her DD's wedding and she looked lovely.

Buy a good minimising bra. Don’t buy anything too big and loose because it will look like a tent. Something a little fitted will look better.

I wore trousers to both our children’s weddings. Don’t worry about not wearing a dress. Many compliments came my way.

Why not have a good browse around and try a lot on, you may be surprised. Look in the independent shops, I found staff very helpful and understanding of my needs - in my case trousers and a top that didn’t have a ‘v’ neck. An outfit (floaty trousers, cami top and chiffon short jacket) was produced from the depths of the store room which was just right for the summer wedding. I’d never have picked it from the rail myself.

Don’t fret. There’s time. A personal shopper could indeed be a good idea, you don’t have to accept their recommendation and they will work to an individual budget.

As it is a small informal celebration I think comfort should be your guide.

When my daughter got married I had just finished chemo and was completely out of shape.

I bought a 'Mother of the Bride' outfit that was too big on the top and too tight round my middle. I made the effort but did not feel comfortable at all. I regret wearing that outfit,

If you don't do dresses or skirts then wear trousers. Don't wear heels, choose comfy shoes. Don't wear make-up, wear a good quality moisturiser,

There- you have solved your own dilemma!

If your top is bigger than your lower body, then perhaps you should wear a top that’s a little darker, even though it’s Spring. This, I feel, needs to be fairly plain, and you could add a really beautiful (short) necklace to take the attention off your breasts. I think a trouser suit would be a mistake - you need to draw attention to your lower body, so I think you need to get a striking pair of very well cut trousers, perhaps in an eye-catching pattern or colour. I would go for a pattern, personally. Team those with a darker top that compliments the trousers but doesn’t detract from them.
A classic bag in either of the colours of the clothes would look lovely.
The main thing is to feel comfortable and happy in your outfit. Don’t buy anything unless you love it. If all else fails, you could have something made.
Incidentally, some larger department stores have ‘personal shoppers’ who will guide you to suitable clothes that will suit you. I have used these and they are excellent, but they are rather hard to find now. I don’t know where you live but London and other large cities will probably have stores that have them. You will need to book in advance, not just turn up.
