Good gadgets you wished you had bought sooner.

I use a brass coffee grinder of the kind you can find in practically any Turkish shop as nearly all immigrants seem to want one.

They never break down.

My ancient (passed down the family) bread knife which is perfect for large melon portioning.

I also have a stand mixer tucked away in a cupboard never used but I am a coeliac and gluten free baking is not easy or always successful. However if someone took away my pressure cooker I would be devastated!

Same here, my stand mixer is rarely used, I use a hand held one instead it’s much easier to clean. Our best purchases in recent years have been two non stick frying pans of different sizes, an air fryer and a food chopper all made by Ninja.

Have you bought any good gadgets recently? I have just replaced a garlic press that was always clogged with leftover bits for one of the rocker style stainless steel ones. Brilliant, needs a bit of pressure but produces minced garlic with no waste and is easy to wash by hand or in the dishwasher. Now I just need a pepper grinder that doesn't give up after acouple of months use.

We bought rechargeable salt and pepper grinders on a stand a few years ago, very good.

I don't cook much now but I still like to feel a bit 'cheffy' with my big knife chopping garlic ... oh, and while he still can (!) the DBH loves opening the fizzy stuff. Could do with a good, reliable tin opener tho!

My Firestick, as it's awesome for binge watching box-sets! You can also use it to watch live TV via the internet, which is useful when the Freeview channels go on the fritz with pixelating pictures on and off or no signal at all due to the weather (high pressure), like recently. You can have the regular channels and download others like Sky News and GB News.

All three plugs (basin, sink, bath) used to be attached by chains to their home, then chains broke and homeless plugs and droopy chains cluttered up the place. Solution: remove chains with pliers, buy free standing plugs, stainless steel, new, bright, shiny ones with big easy-pull plastic lugs on top! Great!

Use my air fryer every day. Most recent purchase though is a soup maker and love it. So quick, no having to check the pot and can have chunky or smooth soups at a press of a button. Easy to clean too. Appreciate may not be used on a regular basis, more seasonal.

I'd have to say my Ninja Foodi - mine is more than just an airfryer - it has multi functions, from dehydrating to pressure cooking. I use it all the time for everything from soups to stews.

Every week I look on the moneysavingexpert.com website, as they often have special offers on electrical gadgets (usually last year's model). My best buy recently has been a Karcher vacuum window cleaner. It cleans well using water and washing up liquid. Also I have had my upstairs windows installed so that they slide along the runners from the hinged side. This way I can clean the outside of the glass with my cleaner while keeping my feet on the floor.

One of the gadgets I would hate to be without is my jar opener and the other is my meat thermometer.

Yes, I'm a recent minced garlic convert. It keeps well and there's no lingering taste of vinegar in the one I buy, it's so much simpler.
I also love my meat thermometer. My oven and my air fryers all have temperature probes too, I wouldn't be without them.

Another Ninja Foodi fan here, I have the pressure cooker version as well as the larger grill one and an outdoor grill. It sounds like reckless extravagance but I rarely use my main oven now, unless I'm cooking a weekend roast for the family. I've found places to store the indoor ones as they do take up a lot of room on the countertop. It was wonderful to be able to cook outdoors all summer and avoid heating up our open plan flat.

I agree about the air fryer but I still have friends who either bought them for themselves because they always go with trends, or have had them given as gifts who have never used them even once.
I have been unable to convince them.

I agree that they're wonderful and use mine most days, but you need to work out carefully which one you need otherwise you end up like your friends with machines that you don't use.
If you like to pressure cook then the Ninja pressure cooking type are wonderful, if you prefer to grill then you need one with a good sized grill pan. My son and DIL like the ones with double drawers so that they can cook two different things at the same time.
Some people really do only use them for a quick batch of chips so a small, simple airfryer is all they need.
Personally I find that I use the pressure cooker very frequently, it's years since I last used a pressure cooker and I find it invaluable.

My grater. It only cost about £10 and it’s made by OXO. Prior to this I bought and returned several graters because they were either useless or awkward.

This is fab! It stands upright, grates beautifully and a small, plastic box fits underneath if needed. The box has a lid to keep stuff fresh. Absolute godsend. 👍

Even better are these pop-up plugs. Just press on the top to drain sink or to close.

I love, love, love my newly bought soup maker. I can effortlessly make 2 helpings of soup - thick soup, smooth soup, or chunky soup - in just 19 minutes.

My Cole and Mason pepper grinder is wonderful. It goes on for ever without letting me down.

Robot vacuum cleaner which also mops the floor. We have 2 dogs who both shed a lot and it makes the house so much more pleasant.

Another air fryer fan, I've just got a small one that is used all the time for all sorts of things. It's cheap to run, easy to clean and encourages me to try new recipes. I also love my instapot, I make casseroles, stocks, soups and also yoghurt which is much better than the Greek yoghurt I buy and I always turn some of it into labneh for a quick, easy, healthy lunch.
