Housework - cleaning rooms unnecessarily

We use a small portion of the house except when having people to stay. The rooms we don't use on a daily basis get a dust and vac on a monthly basis and a thorough clean two or three times a year. I make sure bathrooms get flushed through regularly though as it prevents staining and rooms get aired. We've had carpet months in the past so I do like to do enough cleaning to check we don't get another infestation. I have a great cleaner who is proactive so all I need to do is let her know when we've got visitors and she does the rest.

Think I can unshackle myself from the burden of a weekly clean! Think it must be my OCD….

I don’t clean spare rooms unless they are being used which isn’t too often. I’d dust, hoover change beds if it’s not been used for a long time but otherwise it’s not needed.

Now and then or if I need them for visitors.

I keep on top of housework but sometimes think I’m creating a rod for my own back. I do a weekly clean of rooms I don’t use very often (study, spare room) and wonder if this is necessary and if a monthly dust/hoover would be enough.
What’s your schedule for rooms you don’t use?
