Another one here with a bigger waist than it should be for the size of my hips. Some trousers look like jodhpurs on me! Thank goodness for elastane. Lands End jeans are particularly lard in the hips and legs.

I’m the same as you Tanith and I found M&S cargo trousers with elasticated brilliant, but now Summer is over so are the elasticated waists. I’ll keep looking as they were such good quality.

I, too, buy men's trousers, which have the added advantage they are longer than women's. Ordinary women's trousers look like cropped ones on me!! I have no bum, never had, and skinny slender legs. I need a 36" waist, and a minimum 34" inside leg. I got a bargain in Sainsbury's July sale when I bought two pairs of men's casual trousers, long length, for £12.50 total!!
I usually find skirts and tops size 14 are fine, so my shape can't be that unusual - can it??

I have a big waist in comparison with my hips so I always wear men's jeans. I have done since I was a teenager. I wear expensive jeans and cheapo ones, it seems to work for me.

I too suggest trying men's jeans. The size that fits your waist and hips may be too long in the leg, but a men's shop will shorten jeans for you free of charge - at least Levi's will.
Don' t know about other brands as I have never worn other than Levi's 501.

Otherwise, if we are not talking denmins, learning to sew your own trousers will solve the problem, as you can make them to your own measurements.

I also have this problem so I try to buy trousers which fit my hips with a stretch on the waist this solves the problem

Jeans are not easily taken in unfortunately or Id glady do that. Trousers are ok its jeans which just dont fit nicely. I'm glad it not just me

I’m the other way, waist isn’t a problem if I can get the jeans over my bum and hips.

I take in the trousers a little bit at the side seams.

Can I join in too? My waist is bigger than it should be according to shop sizes so any jeans which are comfortable on the waist are very baggy on the bottom and legs. I’ve spent years trying to find suitable jeans and really would love to hear from anyone with an answer to this!

I've started buying men's jeans. Not all styles are suitable, but many are. I have several pairs from Tesco. I prefer rigid denim to stretch denim and it seems easier to find rigid men's jeans. Also, you get the added bonus of nice, big pockets.
