Carpet stains and water savings

Also, my water company has sent me a letter to advise that I've become a high water user since my retirement in April of this year.
I'd query that. Are you on a water meter?
It's not a scam, is it?

Not sure about the eye shadow stains, sorry.
I've used Vanish carpet cleaner and 1001 shampoo on a bedroom carpet to remove a stain, it seems to disappear but then comes back again.

I would query your water bill. When I moved from a house into my flat a few years ago my water bill rocketed. It turned out I had been billed for the whole block because the metres had not been installed properly. It took quite a while to sort out as the water company was adamant that this was impossible at first. Good luck!

As for the eyeshadow, my advice would be vacuum up as much as possible and then use lots of warm water with carpet shampoo in a wet vacuum cleaner or hire somebody to do it.

I am sure plenty of other GNs have better advice.

If you have easy access to your water meter check for a leak first. Fill up with all the water you will need that day, don’t flush the toilet unless you absolutely have to.
Take a reading after you’ve stocked up on water.
Leave for about 8 hrs and read again.
I did this for my neighbour. She had a big leak.
