A hot brush is an invaluable piece of hair equipment, I wouldn't be without mine, where I go so does the brush. I have a jaw length graduated bob fairly easy to maintain with the help of the aforementioned brush.

I have very fine hair, I had always wanted curls so it’s permed and I love it! I can wash and go, no need for products or faffing anymore after years of having to wash and style it every day or it just looked lank and sad.
I don’t think DH likes it but quite frankly I do so his views don’t matter!

I’m evidently getting a hot brush for Christmas. Seems DH was listening to me grumping about my hair. He’s promised me he ordered one that is recommended for short hair.

Fine hair, short pixie cut. Rub with a towel then use hair dryer and a round brush. Takes around 3 minutes!

For me me short very fine straight pixie, I’m best with morning hair wash towel dry and then brush through mousse pretty much right back away from face and fringe turned under. It drys naturally like this while I’m pottering around dressing, breakfasting and soothing out for the day. This seems to give me enough body for the day so long as I don’t touch it until it’s completely dry. Then I brush agin into a bit of shape.

For now I just wash my hair and it dries with a quick rub of the towel. can you use a hot brush to give it a bit of oomph?
Mine has two brushes, one smaller diameter than the other.

Oh dear, and I can sympathise! I've ask for a not-too-short layered bob more than once, but once she gets the scissors out, she can't seem to stop. And, of course, you can't see what they're doing at the back.
Even if you take a photo, it ends up nothing like the style.

The problem is, the hairdressers who listen seem to move on elsewhere, even overseas, and the other problem is she's such a lovely young woman I don't like to ask for someone else at the salon and it's easy to access.

It will grow!

I would love mine neat and short and easy to manage but it grows too fast, now it touches my shoulders again, only had it cut five weeks ago, so I have started putting it up again,

At the moment I don't do anything with my hair. I had shoulder length hair which the hairdresser said she could style for me, shorter but with some length still as in the first photo. Instead I got a Grimsby cut. It will take a long time to grow back to any reasonable length and in the meantime all I can do is shove my hat on my head to hide it.
I didn't realise what she was doing as I had steadfastly refused to have my hair cut locally after umpteen bad cuts from different hairdressers. My DH persuaded me to give this hairdresser a go as we have several events coming up. She had assured me she would cut my hair as in the first photo. I was feeling relaxed as she was very confident and looking in the mirror while she was cutting I saw the nice hairstyle emerging. She seemed to be tidying up the ends and I just let my mind wander. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what she had done. My husband was with me but couldn't see from where he was sitting and was quite astounded when he saw what was left. I definitely will not be using another hairdresser here. For now I just wash my hair and it dries with a quick rub of the towel.

I think you are doing the right type of styling, but perhaps need a better product that will hold the style. Try a volumizing mousse. We have different brands here, but you can ask at a stylist or even at a pharmacy.

Try Sam Knight Cool Girl Volume Foam or John Frieda Volume Lift. I like John Frieda products and have had good luck with them.

I use the revlon dryer brush it's so easy to use I just pop some mousse in my hair and dry for a lot of volume

Here's a tip for crown showing. I used to use a round brush and hairdryer and crown hair would flop apart. Then I noticed when my hairdresser used her fingers to quick blast - no parting

My hair is quite long so after a quick wrap in a towel I roll another towel lengthways, lean forward and swing the towel like you would a skipping rope to bash the water out. Soon dry enough to just leave and the bashing works better than brushing in terms of volume as you don't lose the texture and flatten it.

That's what I need, hair nets to wear at night.
I thought they were a thing of the past, Ena Sharples's era.

Hi my hot brush is a Tresamme from Argos think it was around £25 I’ve had it a couple of years and it’s still okay.

I have fine, silver hair, chin length. If I dry my hair leaning forward, the result is a dandelion seed head.

Have you tried drying your hair by leaning forward and directing the heat from the hair dryer at the nap forwards ?
Then styling it .

If I do that it makes my hair stick out.

I discovered Olsson hair products designed for sensitive scalps - When required I use shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, styler, and the excellent hairspray, none of them irritate my scalp, need to only use a small quantity and they last a long time. Online and some available via Amazon.

I am useless with dryer and round hairbrush a la hairdressers. I use a round hot air dryer with a small barrel for short hair.

it has two brushes 19mm and 25mm - I use the smaller 19mm all the time. Wash hair pat dry with towel, use styler spray and style with hot air brush only, lift hair wrap around brush hold for bit of curl or brush slowly to dry and smooth

Would you recommend the hot brush you use? Was it expensive?

The one I've had for years is Babyliss. DH bought me a Revlon one because I thought the Babyliss one had stopped working but it's still going. Both are good.
Both makes come with two brush sizes.

I wrap a towel round my head as I get out of the shower, dry myself, give my hair a rub and then leave it to dry itself.

Brush when dry.

Mine's grown a bit longer and it's no less difficult, in fact probably more so.

I dry it with round brush and hairdryer then set to work with a hot brush. In fact, I have to use a hot brush every morning to tame it.

That would be my preferred hairstyle. Unfortunately, when I do that, it doesn’t look like a cute pixie cut, it just looks flat.

After Swimming I hang my head upside down and use a hairdryer. By the time I get home, it’s flat.

My hairdresser uses round brushes and a hairdryer to dry my hair, which is what I do but less successfully.
I do have tongs, but usually end up with burnt fingers.

What I’d like is a tool that would be more successful but less painful than that.

DDs have been helpful with suggestions like straighteners, which seem to be really effective on their hair. Or “just get it cut even shorter mum, then use gel.”

Would you recommend the hot brush you use? Was it expensive?

I have a Babyliss rotating hot brush. Very easy to use and the heads (1 large and 1 small diameter) are removable for cleaning.
