I think a lot of the above is just envy. If people can afford and want an SUV then no problem at all in my opinion. Just like some people spend a lot of money on holidays or socialising and as for buying an SUV purely for the purposes of fitting in with other school mums and dad's then that's where a real problem arises.
Before anybody asks, yes I drive a medium sized SUV and I love it. My previous car was a golf but with my back problems there were often days when I couldn't even bend enough to get into it hence the higher SUV!
