Has anyone any recommendations for a pair of slippers with plenty of toe room but which don't slip off at the heel please?
(Ditto trainers or walking boots)
I have to wear orthotics for plantar fasciitis so need something I can close tightly, if that makes sense.
My current pair which I got in market about 10 years ago just about do the job but are a bit too "pointy" in the toe and the velcro's not really in the right place to do them up tightly enough to not slip off when I am walking around the house, which is especially worrying on the stairs.
I'm fine in the warmer weather wearing "anatomically correct" flip flops but I need something I can wear my thick socks in and put on/take off in a hurry.
Thanks ...

Mine came from M&S. Mocassin style and stay on your feet well.

Another vote for Pavers, with velcro fastening.

Try ShoeZone.
if you are size 6 or above their men's slippers are robust and comfortable.
They have women's ones too of course.

I suspect that the pains I have developed lately in my toes are caused by my having bought a pair of crocs for the first time, so obviously they do not suit all feet!

Ask the advice of either the shop that sold you your shoes, or of a remedial shoemaker.

Widerfit shoes as already stated by someone else, but I recommend them for feet like mine - ( wide, bunions. gout. [plantar fascitis !)
I also love Fitflop . whose prices are much higher, but are extremely well made and very comfortable.

Re slippers - I've got some from Widerfit which are very comfortable

I recently bought a pair of Lunar slippers. They have a good rubberised sole, are comfortable and they don't slip at the heel. They are also available in a wide fitting if needed. Although I bought mine elsewhere I know that they are available from Amazon for around £22.

My son in law says that Crocs are contraceptive! ie he couldn't ever fancy anyone wearing them.

All dignity falls out through the holes. ;-)

I have to have a wide toe box due to a mortons neuroma. For slippers I either wear crocs or some from Moshulu online, if you want 'proper' slippers. For outside I wear sketchers hyper pillar trainers. Very soft underneath and well shaped for support. They also have a roomy, soft toe box.

tbh I always said no way to crocs too but they are so comfortable and I do all the dirty jobs in them - inside and out and just fling them in the washing machine. One time though I put them on a 60 wash and they went all wonky but the tumble dryer sorted them out

JaneJudge Sat 03-Jan-26 12:27:58

well he is right... grin

Thank you all, I will check them out.
(Except for the Crocs...no way!)

Not even these Crocs 😀

In the sale, £229 down from £460

I haven’t owned a pair of slippers since I was a child.
In recent years I’ve started wearing Sketchers Go Walk in the house.
I have 2 different colours, and they look better with clothes in my opinion.

My cosy slipper boots from M&S are so comfy. Wide toe box and easy to slip on and off. I ordered them online. I particularly like the way they keep my ankles cosy too.

Ill- fitting slippers can be the cause of trips and falls in the home. My daughter bought me some last Christmas because they are warm but I hate slopping around in them. I can't wait for them to wear out so I can buy myself some sensible ones with a small heel and support for my feet.

Another vote for Widerfit Shoes. I wear their trainers as well. Very comfortable and supportive.

Try looking at Halflingers.. I have had my present pair for seven years. A little expensive but well worth it

I wear Skechers inside too. It is a lightweight pair which I try not to wear outside except for the odd trip into the garden or to the bins.

Yes, I do wear Skechers inside, rather than slippers, as orthotics will fit in them too.

Keep your slippers and get some acupuncture, one session cured my PF.
My DIL took my advice and sought acupuncture for her PF, 2 sessions and cured.

Wider Fit Shoes, some have removable insoles so that you can fit your orthotics inside. They have deeper toes but aren't necessarily wide and clumpy. They also house do shoes rather than just slippers.
The staff are very helpful.

Cossy

For outside it’s Sketchers all the way! They do not just the most comfy and supportive ever but summer sandals and winter boots!

Inside the house, for winter wear sort of boot lined wide slippers and summer bare footed or crocs

Sketchers inside as well, cosy and comfortable.

I’ve just ordered my second pair of Bo slippers from Moshulu. I like their nice lightweight sole.
I’ve had the pair I’m wearing for five years.

I wear crocs in sports mode
