there was a white butterfly in my garden this morning, not the usual white, this one had an orange tinge on the tips of it's wings, and in all my 80 years ,I have never seen one like this. I googled it ,and it says it's a male orange tip...

We used to see these orange tip whites in the garden quite regularly many years ago but haven’t seen one for ages. Lucky you!

I had one on the valerian on my patio in Cornwall this week.

I saw one last year - I had to google to find out what it was!

We see quite a lot of orange tip butterflies in our garden. The most prevalent ones at present are large whites.

They are fairly commonplace here though I’ve yet to see one this year - or many other species. Probably waiting for the buddleia to flower. I did get a small tortoiseshell at the weekend. Not a rarity but all are welcome!
