Gals, I'm going grey!! Need words of encouragement

I’m grey, helped with a bit of purple mousse.

Sorry to be negative, but I think you should ask for your photograph to be removed.

How do I get my photo removed?

Use the Report button on the top of your post and ask GN to do it.

on your photo post, hit the "report" button. This will connect you to Gransnet and a space to type your request. They'll take it down for you.

Current look is great! I dyed my hair for a short time but didn't like it, so just let it go grey. Seems to be more common now.
Most people here prefer to stay anonymous so don't post identifiable photos. It's not a rule, so it's OK to leave your photo there if you want.

I think it looks great!'

I have always said I would die my hair pink when I go grey .... but it is stubbornly brown!

You have a similar look to this lady, and she looks glorious, just "as is". (Just a few seconds video)

Grey hair looks good and yours is lovely. Don't dye it.

I used to dye my hair until in my mid sixties then just couldn’t be bothered anymore so at 76 my hair is now grey/white and I use a purple shampoo and conditioner to keep it bright.
Have no regrets
You look stunning and would just let the greys come through but keep your hair nicely styled. I think it will be a really attractive look for you ✅

Make a friend of a hairdresser who will restore your hair to the colour it was or in my case the colour I always wanted.

FocalFry welcome to Gransnet, this site is not only for grandparents and there are lots of threads about a wide variety of topics.
A great-niece sounds lovely though 😊

Your greys are coming through evenly and look very distinguished!
Mine are doing the same although my natural hair is lighter than yours.
I've stopped dying my hair and am enjoying my new look. If you're happy to do so, you can just enjoy your new natural colour. It looks great to me!

I never went really grey, my hair was always light and it just got lighter until it was white.
I used to put a blond/pearl colour on it until I decided it was a waste of time so I am white now and I love it.

I think it can look great, particularly long hair like yours. Remember, grey hair can be more porous than dark, so responds well to lots of deep conditioning to keep it glossy .
Of course, if you decide to colour it, that's your choice, too.
Welcome to GN: not all of us are grandparents, we're just mature ( like cheese, or a fine wine).

I remember (with horror) my mum dying her hair black and would then have grey roots. My hair is a mixture of grey and black.

whilst I worked I used to colour my (brown) hair with the shampoo-in dyes. In my sixties, started to use a lighter colour, but still did this every six or so washes.
When I retired at 70 yrs I had no idea how much grey was actually in my hair. I did used to look at Ladies with lovely fully grey hair with some envy.
Eventually I took the plunge and stopped using those dyes.

Turned out that I was very much what used to be 'salt and pepper', but by then more grey than brown.

Keep my hair short now - but it still took about another five years before most of my hair was really grey.

In mid-80's now and love my fully grey hair, would never give it any sort of colour rinse. Just gets washed three times a week and brushed into place each morning. So easy to look after and looks good.
