What’s a household item that reminds you of your grandma’s house?

I have my Granny’s wedding china but if I’m honest it lives in a cupboard because it’s hideous!

My Gma lived with us all my childhood . I have her cookery book , engagement ring and photos of her with my grandad who died before I was born .

A Butter curler - only used when someone was coming for tea!

My maternal grandma used to have real farmhouse butter in a proper glass butter dish. I loved my paternal grandma's button tin and now have my own.

I have a charcoal sketch of my grandad's dog, Jack. Grandad was a chauffeur & the young son of the family drew his dog & framed it for him, it's always been on my wall.
My other family, I remember the music box on the dresser. It had ballerinas & think it played Greensleeves.

A vase of sweet peas from the garden. The fragrance still takes me back to those days….

Never knew either Grandma only one Grandad and what I can recall is only his huge cast iron pan he used on the open fire and his clay pipe. He'd be 145 now.

I agree about the plastic bottles from liquid soaps etc. I do try my upmost to re use them. I do usually use them for houseplants and plant cuttings in the garden.

Not an object, but Lux flakes washing powder. I loved the smell.

A metal roller gadget to turn freshly picked mint leaves into mint sauce by crushing them and adding vinegar.

I have my Grandma’s aspidistra. It used to stand in a Chinese pot in her front window until someone smashed the window and stole the pot. The plant must be about 100 years old now. Grandma was born in 1874 and I’ve had it for 50 years.

The fruit bushes I planted in my garden always remind me of my paternal Granny. Every Spring she would get excited about making the first gooseberry tart and blackcurrant tart of the year, and redcurrant jelly.
I have a very large meat plate that was hers and that comes out at Christmas.
I often think about my Grandpa when I am gardening as he would let me 'help' from being just a toddler. He would let me 'dig' along side him, and let me roast gooseberries, stuck onto the end of a long stick over his bonfires. Happy days!

Grandma’s large baking bowl. She used it mostly for making bread. It went to Mum, now I have it. I also have a small ladle of hers that she used to serve up trifle and a picture that my Grandad bought and hung above their fireplace for many years before it went to Mum and then to me. It could do with a good clean, really, as it is stained with smoke and nicotine, but I’m not sure where to take it to have it done properly as I don’t want it to be damaged by the cleaning process.

My paternal grandmother died before I was born and my DM wanted nothing from her stepmother's house. So, no memories for me.
But DD loves it that she's got her granny's kitchen chairs and other things.
