Is there any follow up? A cardiac specialist nurse? It would be reasonable to ask him/her what you might expect or hope for in terms of recovery and care needs.

I suggest you contact the Chest Heart and Stroke Association who can offer a lot of online and practical support and advice from patients and families sharing your experience. CHAS may have a local daytime support/ rehab group for patients and families to attend.

This is the one in Scotland but it also runs in England.

My OH suffered a cardiac arrest nine months ago. He survived, and after critical care, a hospital stay that was the stuff of nightmares (staff shortages meant we could not leave him as I doubt he would have survived that time) and a spell at a rehabilitation centre, we now have him at home. He is improving, albeit slowly, but at times we feel desperate because we have no idea if he can regain a decent life.
Has anyone had experience of a relative's recovery - or not - from this medical incident?
