Opinions please

I got two cards when my dad died. One was from my son's friend. One was left at the funeral directors on the day of the funeral. I have no idea who the sender was. .

Yes, send the card and put in that you will go and see him in a couple of weeks. By then it will have calmed down a bit and he will appreciate some company and might need to talk a little. If you are up to it yourself, of course. Take care. [smiile]

I think your friend would still appreciate a condolence card. You good put a few lines inside explaining that you have just heard about his wife, along side your message of sympathy.
After my daughter died in February we received cards for another month. They meant so much to our family knowing how much she was loved and thought of.
So, in my opinion It would be kind and thoughtful of you to send him a card, although the funeral took place a week ago.

I would think he would be pleased and touched that you are thinking of him nina. I would definitely send the card, with a little note to say that if only you'd known you would have wanted to pay your respects at her funeral.
